I have just joined this list, and am interested in finding anyone who
has any knowledge of the Churchill of Dorchester, Dorset, England.
I can trace my familly back to George Warren alias Churchill, who was
born in 1796 in Dorchester. I would very much like to know more about
him. Indeed, the familly kept the surname of Warren alias Churchill
until the mid-19th Century, then dropped the "Warren alias" part.
I am also interested in linking my side of the familiy to the
Churchill's who originated from Muston in Dorset in the 1600's, and /
or to the Churchill family who lived in Colliton Hall in Dorchester.
Thank you for any help you can give.
best regards
Peter Churchill
Since I am a descendent of Lydia Churchill, I do have her decendancy to myself. Her son Daniel Cook, names after his father, married Mary or Maria Fuller abt 1820 in, I believe, Ontario Canada. They migrated to the US and on to Utah.
I am trying to find a marriage record for Daniel Cook and Lydia Churchill but have had no luck in finding this. Does anyone know where I could look to find this record? Thank for the information.

Her ascendancy is: Lydia6, Nathaniel5, Lemuel4, Barnabas3, Joseph2, John1.
Contact Clarke R. Chandler (Clarke) (spenser(a)nh.ultranet.com). He is a descendant of Joseph.
Do you have any additional information about Lydia?

Kathy,
Thought you might like some info about Mary Lina's parents, the Rev. Cyrus
and Mary Phelps Churchill. According to Churchill lore,
"In the year 1837, the Baptist church in Almont, Mich. was organized by the
Rev. Cyrus Churchill with sixteen members. He was its pastor for seven
years, leaving in 1844. In 1846-7 they built the church, a plain neat
building with plan board pews.
Some years later, the church was "rebuilt" and stained glass windows were put
in. These are memorial windows. The one nearest the front of the auditorium
bears the name of Rev. Cyrus Churchill and Mary Phelps Churchill, his wife."
I have no idea if this is the same Baptist Church in Almont.

Kathy,
You are of the American Connecticut Churchill line. The information on your gggrandmother Mary from “The Churchill Family in America” (CFA) is shown below.
CFA generally only carries male lines forward so we have little information on female descendants. You say Nellie Mary HOUGH your ggrandmother was a child of Mary.
COULD YOU GIVE ME A LISTING OF MARY, YOUR GGMOTHER AND GMOTHER’S FAMILIES?
