I picked this up from the Devon List. Thought it might be of interest.

Is it any wonder that we spend so much time on genealogy?
All,
I found an interesting deed today while going through microfilm of original
Plymouth documents. It is by Abigail Clark the ward of John and Hannah
Churchill of Plymouth. The deed is to a Richard Wright. The document is
not in good condition and is faint.
The deed is dated 1666 when Abigail would have been about age 24. Abigail
signed with a rather elaborate but diminutive "AC" script mark which is
clear. The letters are script form. One of the witnesses was no less than
Hannah Churchill who using the oversize "H" mark that we see on her later
documents. However, on later documents her mark has a stick like
character. On this document the "H" is well formed with bold script
strokes having a slight rolling flair.
I believe that both Hannah and Abigail's marks are "live."
Bill Churchill
Okay, I just got tired of SWBell messing up my e-mail and losing e-mail,
so I have changed to dawnmoorehead(a)earthlink.net. Please change it on
your lists.
Thanks Dawn
I subscribed to this list about a week ago, but haven't seen any traffic.
Is there anybody out there?
Basically I simply wanted to ask a question - so on the chance that there
are people on this list, here goes:
I seem to remember there being a family connection between Winston
Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt. In the dusty corners of my brain, I
remember this being fairly remote.
Does anyone know if this is fact, and if so, are there any internet
sources that delineate the relationship.
Thanks
Leslie
