Pat,
I'm afraid I'll be of little help but thought I should reply.
I have a George Churchill christened 9 Aug 1824 in Toller Fratrum which is
about 8 mi from Piddletrenthide. This is from the British Vital Records
Index. His parents were John and Elizabeth (?) Churchill. I have not
placed his father. The Toller Fratrum grouping appears to descend from the
Piddlehinton Churchills; however, I am not certain on this. There may
still have been a Piddlehinton family(ies) in this period.
Why do you place your 1848 George in Piddletrenthide? Do you have other
Churchill or related families there?
Not much help I guess. I can only add to the confusion. Sorry.
Bill Churchill

Subject: [DOR] BELLINGER
I am interested in the name BELLINGER (could also be spelled
BALLINGER) of Dorset, probably round the Piddletrenthide area. I have
a Mary BEllINGER married George CHURCHILL, probably in the 1840s.
They had a son George b July 29 1848.
Naturally I am also interested in the name CHURCHILL. And also GIBBS,
Piddletrenthide.
Any help welcome to crumble the brick wall.
Pat
Julie,
Your information has some problems. The English Churchyard surname extends
back into the 16th century and is an established surname line. I suggest
that you try to obtain more information on the Amos and Elizabeth
Churchyard family. Amos and Elizabeth married in 1858 and didn't have
children until 1888? That doesn't sound right. Are you sure there is not
another generation in between?
Try to determine Amos and Elizabeth's parents, siblings and children.
Check out all the female's who would have been an age to be Hilda, William
and Fredrick's parents. Who did they marry? If unmarried, did they have
children?
If you get other responses I would be very interested in hearing about the
Churchyard-Churchill connection.
I don't know the history of the Churchyard line but I don't believe they
have any connection to Churchills. If you are interested in the history of
surname Churchill I can send a short couple of paragraph summary. There
are Churchells and Churchwells that derive from the Churchill line but I am
not aware of any Churchyard relationships.
Again, I would very much like to hear about your Churchill line. Can you
send more detail? Dates (birth, marriage, death), spouses and such.
Best Regards,
Bill Churchill

It seems that SWBell decided to do an upgrade and in so doing, knocked
my email address offline or some such thing as that so you have been
sending me email have been getting it back. I have not been receiving
for over 72 hours and they tell me it will take another 12 to get it
fixed. So much for modern technology. As far as i know I can send but
not receive, so if you have sent anything over the weekend, please
resend it tomorrow.
Thanks Dawn
