I believe that I have a photo that belongs to you. It was sent to me along with some others from a collector. He found me online due to my research on the Christy family. Not done piecing things together, but Mary F (CHRISTY) CHURCH SCANLON and John Reuben CHURCH were the parents of Alonzo Christy CHURCH. That the sender thought the photos were of his family was of. It is actually Alonzo Church of Athens GA and I guess his family. I think that John Reuben CHURCH was a brother of Alonzo of Athens.

I'm interested in knowing the present whereabouts of a Church family Bible once owned and belonging to Reuben Church II and his wife Mary "Polly" Walton. I'm interested in knowing its present location, its present owner, and/or their contact information.
Items I'm specifically interested in obtaining from this Bible are as follows:
1. A couple photos of the Bible.
2. Updated photos and/or information on the family birth, death, and marriage information it contains regarding the Church / Walton / Reece families.
3. Knowing the publishing company.
4. Knowing the printing company that printed the Bible, city, state
5. Knowing the printing date of this Bible.
I have heard this Bible exists and that it may be located somewhere in Iowa or Ohio. I'm looking to establish and verify its present ownership.

Al I have been able to find out was that Albert and Mary Ann Jostock were married in Essex, Ontario, John was born Mar. 18, 1911, and no trail about him to anything before their wedding! I am, now extremely curious about his origins, and I am wondering how young my grandfather was when he was adopted by Wolff. I'm not sure any of my relatives know, or even he himself, that he was adopted. My mom had been in the process of amassing information into our family tree, when she passed away, and there is nothing in her research to indicate anything different.

Hello Church list members,
I have a very tough brickwall in my CHURCH family and need your help. I've used the basics such as census, cemetery records, deeds, children's marriage and death
records. Still stumped. Here it is.
I am seeking the parents, birth date and birth place for the wife of
Benjamin F. Church, a pioneer builder and carpenter who arrived in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1835 from New Paltz, Ulster County, New York.
She is Permelia Church in the 1850 Census, Permilia Church in her first
daughter’s marriage record [1859] and Parmelia Church in her 2nd
daughter’s marriage record [1875]. In deeds in 1840 with husband
Benjamin she is recorded as Parmelia H., Pamelia or Purmelia. She is
recorded as Elizabeth Church, a married woman, in the 1856 burial
records at Forest Home Cemetery where she is interred in the Benjamin
Church Lot with infant Benjamin F. Church Jr. who died 1850. She may
have been named Elizabeth Permelia or Permelia Elizabeth.
Her surname of Clemens is given in just one place, her first daughter’s
death record [1891] where she is listed as P. Clemens. This is
unconfirmed, and could be Clements or other name. She sometimes has a
middle initial C or H.
If the 1850 Census is right, she was born in New Hampshire in 1815 or 1816 [recorded as 34 in the census]. She died before the 1860 Census so I
have no other reference points. No marriage record has been found for Benjamin and Permelia, either in Milwaukee [Early Milwaukee Marriages booklet] or in Chicago [Fink Index]. He came first to Chicago in 1834, then to Milwaukee in November
1835, then back to Chicago briefly to settle his affairs.
You can find the full query online here on my blog:

Is anyone familiar with the early Church families of Dutchess County and Ulster County, New York? Thanks.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all, and good luck on your CHURCH ancestor searching!
Barbara

Hi Ross - Hope you get this, since your query was back in 2004. In Alice Church's book "The Genealogy and History of the Church Family in America", 1948, published by Higginson, I find Alonzo Church, b. 9 Apr 1793 in Brattleboro, Vermont; d. 18 May 1862 in Athens, Georgia. He married 16 Dec 1817 Sarah Jane Trippe. Her parents, according to the book, were John Trippe and Elizabeth Hunt. They had 8 children:
1. Elvira Ann Church
2. Sarah Jane Trippe Church
3. Elizabeth Whipple Hunt Church
4. Julia Maria Church
5. Alonzo Webster Church
6. John Reuben Church
7. Anna Pleasant Church
8. William Lee Church

How do I know if I am descended from this John Church, when there is no identifying information given?? When and where was he born; when and where did he die? What was his wife's name? There are lots of people out there named John Church.
Rita - Great-granddaughter of Maria Jane Church, whose father was Perez Church.
