I have Dewey Church (b. 1904, son of William Harvey Church and Louanna Keller) m. Julia Scarberry. Children were Willard, Arbie (male), Arnold, Nellie, and Letha. Dewey was my father's uncle and my dad gave me the names of the children. Two of my dad's brothers are still living; I will ask if they know anything about a child of Dewey's being adopted.

Larry,
In John A. Church's "Descendants of Richard Church of Plymouth, Mass", page 318 (part of John's "Unplaced Members of the Plymouth Family"), the Alanson you are looking for is listed within his "Great Barrington, Mass. Records". John states there that the Churches living in Great Barrington probably belonged to at least three of the five families named in the preface of his book, which are:
1. Richard of Plymouth, Mass. 1630;
2. Garrett of Watertown, probably 1631. He was a man of mark in Boston in 1634;
3. Richard of Hartford, Conn., 1632 or 3;
4. John of Dover, N. H., 1665;
5. David of Marlborough, Mass., 1703 to 9.
I know this doesn't answer your question, but it should be of help if you haven't already seen it.
I too am trying to find the parents of a Church who lived in Berkshire County, MA. Abigail Church (b 1/25/1763) married Joseph Jarvis on 1/12/1783, in (I believe) Lanesboro, where she resided until her death on 12/26/1836. From my past research I have come to suspect that Caleb Church (b 9/16/1733 Killingly, Windham Co., CT), who also is in Lanesboro from 1782 until his death 1790-1800. However, I have no hard evidence as yet. I would appreciate any further information to further resolve my suspicion.
Thank you in advance for any thoughts on this,
-Tom Melton
