My gggrandparents were Woodward Wilburn and Mary Polly Gabbert Church of Greenbrier county, West Virginia. They had a son Archibald George Church ( ggrandfather) who left Greenbrier County and moved to Cabell County, WV. Woodwards father was William Church. I have very little information about William. I believe William came from Pennsylvania to Greenbrier County, but can not make the connection. I do have Frank Herbert Church in my lineage as a son of Archibald. Frank married Jeanette Elizabeth Murphy.

My husband Miles is a member of the Church surname project. I hope Lawrence Church joins since he and Miles share 67 markers.

Don't forget that your 67 marker Church DNA test matched with my husband's Miles_5, Miles_4, James_3, John_2, Philip_1. (Philip Church born about 1812 New York died 4 Feb 1881 in Burford Twp, Brant/Oxford County, Ontario, Canada. This is now new information and we are eager for any info that can be found to get beyound Philip. A Philip Church came to the Brant County Ontario for the survey of the area and appears in the early Land records there. I believe this Philip Church is the son of Judge Philip Church of Angelica, NY. John Church was born in Oswego NY according to his obit in the newspapers in Charlotte, Eaton, Michigan. He worked on the Railroad between Charlotte and Brant Co, Ontario.

I have a great-grandfather named George W. Church who was born in Wisconsin in 1844. We have no record of his death or burial and I have not been able to find out anything about him other than his father was George Church, born in NY and his mother was Melissa. That is all we know about him!
If he died in NYC in 1901 he would have been 57.
