I'd be glad to look some things up in my copy of Alice Church's genealogy of the
descendents of Richard of Hartford, but as I said it's not indexed and
fragmentary lines can be hard to find. The book is over 250 pages long. I have
Seth Church as Seth^6, Moses^5, Deacon John^4, Benjamin^3, Samuel^2, Richard^1.
Some early genealogies confuse and conflate the two Richards. Richard of
Hartford descendents moved up the Connecticut River Valley and then many
migrated to western New York as part of the "Vermont Sufferers". Richard of
Plymouth descendants are generally east of this area -- Boston, Rhode Island,
Eastern Connecticut.

Unfortunately Alice Church's genealogy runs out right where you've found the other published genealogies stop. It shows a Harrison Church, son of William Harrison Church b 1753. The only note for Harrison Church is that in 1827 he lived in Covington, NY.
Many members of the Church family moved to western New York. The center of where they settled is modern day Bainbridge NY. Perhaps you can pick up the trail in western New York. Good luck.

That would be great if you could look and see what you find.
Here's what I got:
Mary Church born bet 1835-1838, NY,she was daughter of Alvah B. Church b. 1801, she married Henry Little of PA born bet 1824-1829 - Nine Children: Lucinda, George, Emma, Mary, Lydia, Minnie, Frederick, Laverne, James.
Alvah B. - born abt 1801 (other trees say Oct 1, 1801) NY (Cambridge, Washington Co.?) He's listed on 1850 Hayfield Twp, Crawford Co., PA census with a Rebecca listed 2nd. Don't know if she was wife. 1860 Census lists a Dorcas 2nd. Most trees are putting her as Mother - I think she's 2nd wife. Alvah has at least 4 children - L.E., Mary, Harrison, and Alfred. (All born before Dorcas showed up on census) 1870 has Alvah & Dorcas in Iowa - Morgan Twp, Franklin Co. This is where E.R & C.M (Emma Rebekah & Charles Milton Beardsley) my gggparents show up. The rest of what I have is from other published trees and not proven by me yet.
I have see the online versions of The History of Hadley and pulled out what I thought was relavent. Also looked at the Annals of Brattelborough and Simeon Church of Chester. Unfortunately, none so far have mentioned Alvah. (or I missed it).
So, the trees that have been published show Alvah's parents as Harrison Church (b. 1773) & Hannah Pitts (b. 1778). Harrison's parents as William Harrison Jr. Church (b. 1753) and Molly Pitts (b 1750).
William Harrison Jr.'s parents as William Harrison (b. 1730) and Jane Wood (b 1727).
William Harrison's as Nathaniel (b. 02/07/1704) and Rachel McCranney (b. 10/27/1704)
Nathaniel's as son of Samuel (b. 08/19/1667) and Abigail Harrison(b. 09/11/1673)
Samuel as a son of Samuel(b. 1629) & Mary Churchill (b 03/24/1639)
Then Samuel as a son of Richard and Ann Marsh.
I know this is a lot of information, but I thought maybe it would help. If you could look and see if Alvah or Harrison and Hannah Pitts are listed, I would know I'm looking at the right Richard. Thanks.

I have noticed on some postings, as well as comments in some books that Ancestry.com has online regarding the two Richards. It can be very confusing when searching. Maybe you might have a way to help me sort it out? What I have is my gggrandmother Emma Rebekah Beardsley listed on 1880 Census, Morgan Twp, Franklin Co., as being a granddaughter of A.B. Church (Alvah). On tracing back census I get to 1850 Hayfield Twp., Crawford, PA to Alvah, with a son Harrison, all living next door to Harrison & Hannah Church. Dates seem to coincide with Harrison Church married to Hannah Pitts. Harrison is on census as born in MA. Dates on census give Alvah b. in 1801, in NY, Harrison b. in 1773.

In my copy of "Genealogy and History of the Church Family in America" by Alice Church I find a Seth Church born 7/1/1785 in Marlboro VT died 1840, Married Elizabeth Nichols, b 1783 of Samuel Nichols. She died 10/18/1815. Moved to NY after 1814
I don't find any later entries for this line, though there is no index for the book so cross references can be difficult.

I think some lines are being confused. The Church family that resided in Windham County, Vt around revolutionary times are descendents to Richard of Hartford, not Richard of Plymouth. Richard of Hartford came from Essex England, not Wales, so any immigrants from Wales would be a different line.
Extending the Church line back very far in England requires care. Many of the so called lines I have seen are based upon the work of Gustave Anjou. This work is largely fraudulent. I have personally checked some of his citations and they do not tie to the Richard of Hartford line. Primary source material must be used. Secondary source material is unreliable.

Has anyone found any relationship between this Church line and the Richard Church who was b. ca. 1645 and died 15 Feb 1706 in Norfolk Co., VA. He left six daughters and only one known son, Joseph.

Has anyone actually connected Yankee John to the Mayflower?
