Orange Church of Colchester, m. Susan Farrand of Colchester, in Burlington, Vt. on Oct. 11, 1825.
I am not related to this family, just passing on this information, which comes from a website called "Vermont Marriages" The link for the site is listed below.

Dear Marie,
I am only relpying because you are the first Church person who has asked
about English Churches for ages. Least i hope that your Lambeth is the
English Lambeth.
I haven't much Church info in the 1900's but Albert and Benjamin are family
names and I might find that he is related.
All my Churches were shoemakers, starting out in St Sepulchre ,Holborn now,
and then moved to St Lukes (Shoreditch /Hoxton) where there was a big
concentration from about 1830 until 1900. I noticed that there were people
from Lambeth who married into the family.
About 1870 a large group of my Churches moved over the river to Bermondsey.
A few more names might find results. Annice... great grandaughter of Eliza
Church

Frederic Corss Church was born on October 3, 1885, in Scranton, Pennsylvania
My Church family lived in Rutherford, Coffee, Bedford, Marshall, and
possibly Cannon counties in TN during the mid- to late-1800s. I would
like to find the parents and siblings of Benjamin Franklin Church (b. TN
ca 1828) and his wife, Mary Caroline Thompson (b. TN ca 1830). The
birth place and date for both come from various census records.
I have reason to believe that perhaps Benjamin Franklin Church had
at least the following siblings:
Jane Church - b. ca 1825 TN, m. Anderson S. Davis
Mary K. Church - b. ca 1816 TN, m. 1st William Alexander Tedder
(1834,
Rutherford Co., TN), 2nd James Mears (1848, Cannon Co., TN
Rebecca J. Church - b ca 1824 TN, m. Thomas Hogwood
If you are researching any of the above 3 women, please contact me.

Sorry, I can't find any reference to "Yankee" John Church in the book. I
looked thru to the 7th generation. Locations are mostly CT, VT and Mass.
Have you tried to find him through 'Google'? -Rita

I am a descendant of John Church who came with some brothers from the USA [Vermont] to Canada. It is not clear whether he came through the Eastern Townships but he ended up in Perth. He remained in Perth until at least 1835 and then moved on to Calabogie. We believe some of his brothers went into the Renfrew area. Contact me if you think you might br related. Thanks

Ahhh - thanks! that TN site is another big list
(http://www.tngenweb.org/franklin/frannick.htm and
http://www.tngenweb.org/franklin/nick2.htm). But even that doesn't help
much when you have relatives with names like "Pharsalia Abolene McNeil" who
was known to everyone just as "Salia" from Buckeye. Now who in the deep
woods of Buckeye West VA would name a child born in 1869 after a classical
Roman story about a civil war (and written in Latin)? That one took me a
while to track down. Thankfully she wasn't called just "Sally" - that would
have been impossible.
PS --- Salia's daughter Ina Hester Oden married Earl Church Culbertson, son
of Molly W. Church daughter of William R. Church (just to stay on list
topic!) -- Molly was apparently her real birth name, not a nickname for
"Mary" - - Mary was her mother's name - and that wasn't a nickname either).
Earl's nickname was "Cully" - go figure.

Let me preface this first. I don't think I am out of line on this one.
This is definitely genealogy related!
Does anyone have a list of nick names given to given names? I believe that
it might help us all in our research.
