Does anyone know for sure if Richard Church of Hartford came from the Braintree area, County of Essex, England? The book I have about the descendants of Simeon Church has this info, but I think if might be part of the fabricated info that has been discredited, by Anjou or something like that. I plan to visit England next month, and would like to hear from anyone who has researched this. Thanks

My Great-grandfather, James W. Church, was Iroquois. My mother and
grandmother verified this. None of his children were registered,
however.

I am a little late and you may already have this, but it appears that Lucy Ann Church was the daughter of Jonathan Mills Church and Caramanda Dewolfe. Jonathan, in turn was the son of Jonathan Mills Church, Sr. and Jerusha Johns. That should yield you a pedigree going back to about 1630.

Hi Sue Thank you for responding. Phebe's father Lt James Holmes was born in Colchester and moved to Salisbury, Litchfield Co., CT. Samuel Church and Hannah Rogers are a real posibility. The IGI has them married 18 Jul 1756 in Preston, CT. Now I need some proof. Thank you Dave

I have a Thomas Church, b. 1770, November 07, 1770 in my database. His parents were: Samuel Church, b. October 30, 1738, Westerley, Middlesex, RI (now Washington Co.),
d. Colchester, CT (New London Co.) and Hannah Rogers. Don't have any marriage info on him but age and location are about right. The Jewell, Hoyt, Church, Colby, and Rogers lines intermixed.

Ron Church
I'll try again. Benjamin Church born 1753 in Rowan and went to Wilkes co NC
in the 1760's and then to Spartanburg SC inprobaly the 1780's and then to
Pendleton District SC in 1810 and then to Habersham co Georgia by 1820. I
believe he had a daughter named Jane who married Solomon Ray in 1829 in
Henry co Ga. He was listed in the 1830 Campbell co Ga census and then there
are no records of him. If anyone has any information about this family
please reply. I have found some info but not much. I am trying to prove
Benjamin church was Jane's father. Thanks

Find Freedom Henry Church in UT. census 1870 with dau Mary A (could this be Mary Alice) I had thot there were two girls, Mary and Alice. The baby in the picture must be William P Church, and I suspect the "P" was for Porterfield, that being Mary's maiden name. (1st wife of Freedom.)

find Freedom Henry Church in the Box Elder, UT census 1870, listed as T H Church rather than F H Church. Fancy handwriting of the day, script. 1880 listed under son Wlliam P Church, who gave the census taker the info. Have to really concentrate to see that William is listed as head of house, under him is listed the father, then brother and sister, then mother Catherine Church (2nd wife of F H Church) ---BUT listed as wife and one would think she was the wife of William, he being the "head of household". There is a brother George, sister Gertrude. Cocky boy or the census taker was careless or both!!
