I am researching my wife’s family, CHURCH. I am interested in hearing from anyone who may be researching or have information on the following people.
Edgar F CHURCH born abt 1855 in Michigan, died 23 Jan 1940 in San Diego Co, California. He married Arena (Irena) May CROUCH 7 Sep 1881. She was born 1 Oct 1864 in Oregon and died 12 Feb 1938. According to the 1910 Federal census Edgar’s father was born in Illinois.
Children of Edgar CHURCH and Arena CROUCH are:
i. Ira Ernest 3 CHURCH,b.12 July 1882;d.10 July 1970, Virgina Beach,Virginia,USA.
ii. Edith Elenora CHURCH, b.18 March 1884, Washington, USA; d.30 April 1945, Orange Co, California, USA.
iii. Nellie Gertrude CHURCH, b.21 January 1886, Washington, USA; d.04 October 1937.
iv. Grace Levinnie CHURCH, b.19 October 1887; d.19 June 1889.
v. Mary Ethel CHURCH,b.27 October 1889,Washington,USA;d.12 November 1979,San Francisco,California,USA.
vi. Leslie Earl CHURCH, b.10 June 1892; d.16 April 1893.
vii. Leta Pearl CHURCH, b.10 June 1892; d.03 March 1893.
viii. Bessie Naomi CHURCH, b.11 October 1895, Washington, USA; d.September 1994, Jackson, Oregon, USA.
I, too, am a Church researcher, and believe William Church may have been the
father of John Church in the same records in Augusta Co., VA. John Christian
Church was my 3rdgr grandfather, who enlisted to serve in the Rev. War in
Augusta Co., Dec. 1776. Have extensive research on our family, but William seems
to be the "brick wall" which we have been unable to get around. Any info'
about him would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Claudine Church Boland

I am assisting my father-inlaw in searching for his family. He was born Guy Lewis Church but was adopted after his parents deaths.
His father was Howard Lewis Chuch born in approx 1907 in Ashtabula Ohio and died in 5/1945 in Columbus Ohio
Howard was the son of Guy Beckwith Church born in Geneva, Ohio on 1/28/1882 and died on 9/4/1950 in Fairfield County Ohio. Per his death certificate his father and mother were Benjamin Church and Alice Ranson/Church. I have other records that would show his father was Willis Chuch (maybe Willis Benjamin Church).
I have the death Certificate of Willis B. Church born in Madison Ohio on 3/4/1842 oer the death certificate but think it maybe 1852 per other records. He died on July 13, 1910 in Geneva Ohio. Per the death certificate he was the son of John Church born in CT and "Miss" Manchester of Jefferson Ohio.
I seem to loose John B Church in the 1850 Census. (maybe found him in the 1840 Census).
If anyone has any older info I would be willing to share death certificates, Obits etc I have collected for info. I am trying to see if this branch is part of the Rhode Island Church's.

believe that this individual may have been the brother of my GG Grandfather,
Robert Henry Church. He favors my Church side , according to my G Aunt.
Thank you

I'm in the same boat. Looking for the family of one Fannie CHURCH. She
m. Nathaniel Eggleston HOOKER in Hartford CT around 1820.
After two children, William WALLACE Hooker and Lemuel HARRISON Hooker
were born, the family began moving West, stopping off in Bennington NY
for the birth of their third child, SAMUEL CHURCH Hooker. It's my guess
that the capitalized names have something to do with Fannie's Church
family, as I know that they are not from the Hooker side of the family.
There is no word regarding Fannie or her family in our otherwise very
well documented family tree. Any clues, hints or encouragement would be
very much appreciated!

My CHURCH line is a very closed mouthed society. No one has any
information really to pass down the line. I have only gotten as far
back as 1835. Not good.
I'll work backwards in hopes that maybe someone will see any recent
connections:
1. (daughter of John Herbert) Me b. 1964 Syracuse, New York
2. (son of Herbert M.) John Herbert Church, b. 1933 Warwick, Rhode
Island (my father)
3. (son of John H.) Herbert Manton Church b. 13 August 1898 E.

5. (son of ?????) James Church b. 1835 CT. d. abt. 18 may

The only piece of evidence I have for James Church is his marriage
license to Mary Elizabeth Dorrance, some deeds and the divorce papers
when he abandoned Mary and his sons. Other than that, nada.
I'm hoping someone recognizes these people!!!

Yes, Karen, you have the right idea!!!
Now, as for my Church mountain (it's more than a brick wall!):
Benjamin Franklin Church was born around 1828 in TN; his wife, Mary
Caroline Thompson, was born around 1830 in TN. O.K., with that having
been said, let me say this: please contact me either privately or
through this list if you have a Benjamin Franklin Church (or a Ben or a
Frank or a Franklin) who was born in this general time frame in either
TN or one of the surrounding states. Same goes for Mary Caroline (Mary
or Mollie or Polly or Caroline or Carol or Carrie) Thompson.
I am going by census information mostly in establishing birth years
and locations. These could very well be off somewhat. For example either
of the above people could have been born in that part of NC that became
TN, or they could have been born quite close to the state boundary so
that some descendants would record TN as a birth state and others would
say KY or AL, etc.
I think that what folks have been trying to say about the census
records is that they are not "God's Word." They may be our only record
of our ancestors' names or dates of birth or states of birth...and we
may have to "trust" the census records until we find more reliable
records. While these records are not necessarily "correct" they do
contain many clues about our ancestors. Often family members lived
nextdoor to each other, etc.

I sent out a test email today since I never see any messages or queries on
the Church mailing list to see if I was even subscribed as I thought I was.
I received many replies most telling me they received my email but there
just was no activity on the Church mailing list most of the time. Why don't
we change that/ I received so many replies from Chruch researchers that I
know there are many people researching the Church family but like me are
doing most of their research on thier own although with sio many people
subscribed to the Church mailing list their is a chance someone might have
found info that another researcher might be able to use but since there is
no activity on the mailing list it is not shared. I know I have found a lot
of info in the last year. I don't know if it can help anyone bit I will be
glad to share as I am sure others will be glad to.
Why don't we all list the line of Church familys we are researching and and
dquestions we have not been able to find answers to and maybe another
researcher might be researching the same line and might have some info that
could answer some questions or at least we would know someone elst
researching the same line. I will start.
My ancestor was Jane Church who married Solomon Ray in 1829 in Henry co Ga.
I am trying to find who her parent were. I believe her father was Benjamin
Church who was the son of Yankee John Church. I say this because Benjamin
Church left the Wilkes co NC area and went to SC then to the Habersham co Ga
area by 1820. He is then found in Fayette co Ga in the late 1820's with his
son Gabrel Church. Fayette co Ga was nest to Henry co Ga in the 1820's.
Also, Jane Church and Solomon Ray named thier first son Silas Benjamin Ray.
Could they have named their son after her father and Solomon Ray's brother
Silas Ray? Many of Yankee John Church's children have been well researched
but his son Benjamin has not been researched for some reason. Benjamin
Chruch's son Timothy Church who lived in Habersham co Ga has been well
researched and I believe he was Jane Church's brother as was Gabrel Church
but as well as Timothy Church has been researched no one seems to know
anything about Timothy Church's ancestors except that his father was named
Benjamin Church. Anyone researching this line or who has any info that could
help please reply and I will do the smae if I can help. If everyone will
list what line they are researching and any questions thay can not find
ansers to maybe someone elst has the answers to your questions. Let's get
some activity on the Church mailing list. Thanks, Ross
I subscribed to the Church mailing list but I never see a message or a query
bout the Church family so would someone email me back and let me know if
this is being sent to the Church mailing list subscribers please. Maybe I
did not subscribe and thought I did. Thanks,Ross

Looking for information about Nellie WATKINS CHURCH and her descendants. So far I have not found her husband's name and therefore do not have any info on her children. I am interested in her as given below.
Nellie is a descendant of Grafton and Elizabeth COX COYLE who were married in 1848 in Jefferson Co Ohio. Her mother Mary Ann COYLE married John Newton WATKINS in 1871 probably in Jefferson or Harrison County Ohio. From the census I have their children's names which includ Nellie. I know she was in Erie about the time her father's estate was settled.
If anyone is working on this family, I would appreciate hearing. Elizabeth COX COYLE is a collateral relative and I am trying to put together that branch of the family.
