I'm looking for information on the family of ELI C CHURCH.I think Eli was born in Massachusetts between 1810-1820. He moved to Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan sometime in the 1830's and lived there at least until 1840. He may have been married there. I'm not sure where he lived from 1840-1865 but I think in about 1865 he moved to either Nebraska, or California or Washington Territory. His wife's first name may be Mary. He may have had a son named Spencer Church and another one name Albert Church.
Possible spelling variations of his first name could be:
ELI, EC, ELIC,EPHARIM, EPHERHAM, EPHM, EPHRAIM, EPHRAIN, EPHRAM, EPHRAN, EPHREM, EPHRIAM, EPHRIAN, EPHRIM, EPHRM
The only record I've been able to find for Eli is him listed in the 1840 Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan census. I know he was still living in 1865. If anyone has any additional information on where he lived or who his wife and children were please contact me.

Hi Listers,
Does anyone have any information on a Samuel Church, born in CT around 1803. On the 1850 census for Hartford City, I found Samuel, his wife (name unrecognizable) with children:
Samuel A. 25
Sarah A. 22
Cordelia 20
Emma 18
James 15 (also lists him as female?)
William 14
I'm curious about this family, because I am searching for my JAMES CHURCH, who would have been 15 years old (give or take a year) in 1850. This is the only match I've found. Would anyone have a listing as to who this James married? My James married Mary E. Dorrance in 1857 in Sterling Connecticut, but he listed no parents on the wedding certificate. Just curious.....
Thanks
Leslie

"Rehoda" B. Church, living next door to A. B. Church, should probably be Rhoda.
Rhoda, Hannah and Lucy, ages 28, 26 and 24, might be A. B.'s daughters from his first wife.
It's interesting that they're living next door, but think about it: their stepmother was 27. Would there be a house big enough for the four of them?

Great work Maureen!
I have Abijah B. Church, b. between 1790 - 1794. He is the third of five children born to Joel Winter Church (b. February 27, 1757 in Sharon Township, Litchfield, Conecticut) and Beulah Barnum (b. July 16, 1764 in Floyd, Oneida, New York).
The eldest child of the five, Oliver L. Church (b. October 05, 1784 in Danbury, Fairfield, Connecticut, d. February 03, 1861 in Morenci, Seneca Township, Lenawee, Michigan) is my husband's direct ancestor. It is he who sold large parcel of land fronting on Lake Seneca in New York and invested in land along the Ohio and Michigan border counties of Lucas and Fulton counties in Ohio and Lenawee and Hillsdale counties in Michigan.

Do you know anything about these Church's? My great grandmother was Adelia (Delia) Church. She was born in Senneca New York(1853). Her parents were George and Fannie Church. Don't know anything about them really. Adelia I know was married to E.A. Armstrong in Illinois. I think they lived most of their married life in Iowa...tho she died in Oregon while visiting family(1920). Her parents George and Fannie lived in Ill. and it is my understanding that after Geiorge died, Fannie moved to Grand Rapids Mich. I recall my mother saying yrs. ago that there a lot of Churches in Mich and she went to be around family I guess.. Other than Adelia (or Delia as some information I have says) (I have marriage license and obituary)
She may have had siblings named Helen, Saron, Charles and perhaps another one, I don't have a name for.
If you have any ideas on this George Church family(or wife Fannie's family), Please let me know. You may post or e-mail. Because you mentioned Church and Senneca NY....my hunch is there is a connection somewhere. Thanks.
Im interested in contacting descendants of the following couple.

Hi Amy,
I was wondering if you had any listings in your records for a James Church, b. abt. 1832 in CT (I don't know parentage) married to Mary E. Dorrance in 1857 in Sterling, CT. They moved to RI, but James' son, Charles U. Church, moved to Auburn, NY around 1898. Charles married Sarah Sturtevant and they had three children: George A.S. Church, Leonie Church and Alice (I think it was). Leonie moved to Rochester, NY after she married Samuel Lindsey. Alice and her husband moved with Leonie and George, after fighting in the Spanish American war, disappeared.
Thanks in advance,
Leslie

Hi Amy--
My Fannie Church lived in Maumee, Lucas County OH beginning in the
mid-1830s. Prior to that, she was in Hartford CT and upstate NY, and
she did have family connections in Michigan. Beyond that, I know
nothing of her family.
The coincidence of another Church or Churches living in Maumee is very
interesting to me, and I would very much like to know about your family.
Is there somewhere I can look at information about these Churches?
Thanks so much!

This could very well part of the family I an connected with. Silas and
Betsy West Church came from Conn., and VT to Madison County, NY which is
near Seneca County. Silas and Betsy had several children, among them my
great-grandfather, Franklyn and his twin sister Frances born 1/17/1840.
There were several others; Samuel - 1818, Betsy-1819, Anna Celina
11/14/1821. She evidently dies when young as later there is another
Celina b. 11/4/1832. Julia Eliza - 8/13/1823, Zoe Lorana - 1825, Feinda
Roxanna - 1827, Anna J.-1829, Silas - 1830, George Fayette - 1837 and
Amanda M. - 1842. Franklyn and his wife, Lydia Abbott had four
children; Eliza, Sylvia, Walsteen Aaron and Frank. Franklyn and his
family lived in and around Madison County and Tioga County in New York.
If this fits at all, I shall be happy to share any info. LOIS

I'm looking for an obit and the burial place of P. W. (Perez/Peres Walton) CHURCH and his wife Elizabeth. They were married 17 Aug 1837 in Allen County, Ohio. I find this family on the 1850 U.S. Census of Duchouquet Township, Wapakoneta, Auglaize County, Ohio. Information I have indicates that he died 12 Feb 1853. Could someone find out if there is an obituary for him and where he is buried? His daughter, Maria Church is my direct ancestor. The following is from the 1850 US Census, page 351, lines 12-21, Family# 844, Dwelling# 844:

Joseph Hamilton, age 53, Mill Wright, RE=200, born Delaware [what relationship is he to this family?]
Gemima Godfrey, age 19, born Ohio [what relationship is she to this family?]
Mariah Jane CHURCH was in Iowa by 1862, when she married, and became the 2nd wife of George W. ZIMMERMAN, born 1823 in Ross County, Ohio. Their 11th and last child was my grandfather, Walter Leroy ZIMMERMAN. Thanks for any help that you can provide.
