I have letters from Pauline Martin Church to her aunt and uncle in Alabama, written from Texas around 1900. I will be glad to share this information with anyone who is interested. I believe she was a first cousin to my grandfather Sanderson but I don't know the connection and would like to learn more about who her parents were.

Rod's post regarding HENRY CHURCH, who moved from the St. Albans VT area to
Maumee OH after 1850 really got my attention, because FANNIE CHURCH Hooker
(b. c. 1810 and d. 1853) and her husband, Nathaniel Eggleston Hooker, both
born in Hartford CT, also moved with their family to Maumee OH, c. 1834-36,
shortly after the birth of their third son, SAMUEL CHURCH Hooker, born in
1834 in what my family records report as "Bennington, New York."
Maumee, Lucas, OH was a very small place at the western edge of Lake Erie in
the 19th century), and it seems that it might be more than a coincidence
that these two CHURCHES, born within about five years of another and with
family ties to a place called Bennington, ended up moving there at roughly
the same period. This sent me back to the thread, dating back to 2000,
where I found the following:
Bernie's ERASTUS Church b. 1806 to SAMUEL and Elizabeth Church;
Lynda's SAMUEL and Elizabeth Church, parents of IRA and ERASTUS Church (b.
1789), brothers who lived in Swanton VT and St. Albans VT;
Lynda's AZEL Church, son of SAMUEL and Elizabeth Fuller Church of St. Albans
VT, father of AZEL and IRA Church and buried with AZEL and ERASTUS;
Lynda's SAMUEL Church of Fletcher VT(?), frequently listed in the census
with ERASTUS Church;
Lynda's ERASTUS Church buried in the same plot as AZEL Church, brother of
IRA Church and son of Samuel and Elizabeth Church, buried in St. Albans VT;
Lynda 's AZEL Church, son of AZEL Church, buried with ERASTUS in St. Albans
VT;
Carole's ERASTUS (b. 1789) and Roxanna Davis Church, originally from
Bennington VT, and parents of OLIVER POTTER, SARAH LOUISA, MARIA ADELINE,
OSCAR BURITTE, ROMEO DAVIS, NELSON BURITTE, MATILDA DAVIS, ABEL ROBINSON,
JANE SAMANTHA, and JENNIE Church, all born between 1819 and abt 1840;
Rod's HENRY (b. 1815) and Nancy Morphat Church (d. 1854), parents of Nancy
Ellen (b. 1837?), Robert Henry (b. 1839?), JOHN ANDERSON, GEORGE EDWARD, ANN
JANE, MARTHA DUANA, and MARY ANN, who lived at St Armand-Bedford-Sweetsburg
Quebec, just across the border from St Albans, VT, moved to Maumee OH after
1850, and left Maumee shortly after Nancy's death in 1854;
Rod's GEORGE and Orletta Church, parents of ERASTUS/EDWARD Church, who also
lived at Maumee OH.
Could Fannie be a sister of Erastus, Azel and Ira, and a daughter of Samuel
and Elizabeth Fuller Church? Could she also be a sister of Henry, who went
to live at Maumee? And of George, who also lived at Maumee? It would
appear that they were contemporaries.
These families are new to me, but I'm hoping that those who are more
familiar with them could make some more connections, here.
Thanks!
Maureen Girard
Fannie Church Hooker's children were named, as follows: WILLIAM WALLACE (b.
1829), LEMUEL HARRISON (b. 1832), SAMUEL CHURCH (b. 1834), NATHANIEL
EGGLESTON (b. 1840), CALVIN (b. 1842), GEORGE (b. 1846), and EDWARD
EGGLESTON (b. 1848). She d. 1853.

I am looking for a Henry Chruch that came from St Armand - Bedford-Sweetsburg Quebec just the other side of the boarder from St Albans. He was born in 1815 and died June 16, 1892.
He came to Maumee, OH after 1850 and stayed only until his wife Nancy Morphat dies Aug 3, 1854 in Maumee. He leaves his children in Maumee with George & Orletta Church the relationship I am unsure of. Henry's children are Nancy Ellen 1837:, Robert Henry, 1839, John Anderson, George Edward, Ann Jane, Martha Duana, & Mary Ann. George & Orletta have a son called Erastus Ed or Edward who lived in Maumee, OH.
Hi All,
I was going through the Probate Records of Bristol County, MA when I stumbled upon an abstract of a will for a "Stephen CHURCH of Swansea, Indian Man, dtd 22 Oct 1733, pres. by Caleb Luther, Adm. Mentions value of "this wife's wearing Cloths." Apprs: John Cole, Benjamin Cole & Samuel Atherton (8:147)"
Does anyone know of this family???? I have always thought that my father's family has descended from Native Americans at some point.
Les

Dear CHURCH-L readers,
I found this odd entry while researching my German ancestors who settled in
Buffalo, NY. It's from St. John's Evangelical Church of Buffalo, FHL Film
# 037092, Deaths 1849:
"Thomas Church, a native of Wellen (or Welten) Northhamptonshire, England,
died Sept. 25th, 1849 of diarrhea, on board the steamer Keystone State,
aged about 45 years."
The entry stood out because most entries in this church are of German
names. I'm struck that this church was moved to record the death of this
Englishman, and in such detail. Most entries in this particular church did
not give the circumstances of the death.
Anyway, figured that this might belong to someone out there, wondering why
they couldn't find the death of their Thomas Church.
The steamer would have been travelling on Lake Erie, most likely.
I'm not a subscriber to this list (except for the purposes of signing on to
send this, then signing off), so if you want to respond to me personally,
please do so off list.

You were right.
I dug out the old handwritten document passed down to me and I am sure it is

Then I went to Dutchess Co NY and found the name Ingraham a very popular
surname!
Sorry Church list members...I did not save Patty's e-mail
