I have a Fannie Church who lived in Maumee, Lucas OH from 1834-35 until her death in September 1853. I have no knowledge of her parents or siblings.
Fannie was born in Hartford CT abt 1807-09 and married, in 1826, Nathaniel Eggleston Hooker. Fannie and Nathaniel migrated, in 1834, from Hartford to Maumee, stopping on they way in Bennington, New York, where their third son, Samuel Church Hooker was born. It seems reasonable to suppose that the stopover at Bennington was planned and that the child was named because of someone they were visiting there.
It's interesting to note that Bennington was a sort of "colony" of Hartford when it was founded, and it was where Congregationalist dissidents went. During the Rev War, there was a pivotal battle at Bennington, with a large number of casualties and prisoners taken. Most of the men who were able to get away escaped to Canada and remained there.
I have also noted that the Fannie and Nathaniel seemed to have a lot of ties in Michigan, though I have not run across anyone with the Church surname among them.
Following Fannie's death in 1853, her son, Samuel Church Hooker, changed his name to Frank Church Hooker. I have no idea why, and it's unlikely we'll ever know, as Samuel/Frank died just six years later, along with his infant son and daughter, during one of the all-too-frequent epidemics that swept through the Lake Erie area. Only his wife, Laura Bartholomew, was spared.
Of their seven sons, only three survived beyond young adulthood: Lemuel Harrison, George and Edward Eggleston. In addition to Samuel, William Wallace Hooker, M.D., Nathaniel Eggleston Hooker II, and Calvin Hooker all died before they reached the age of 26.
If any of these names or locations strike a chord, I'd very much appreciate knowing.

Several Church families came to America. I'm sorry but I don't know of the connection of your Jane to my Henry. Henry was born in 1750 and his wife in 1755. Your Jane, born 1807, is a remote possibility at best birthwise, but Henry settled in and never left, Hundred, WV, so I don't think your Jane is connected. Debbie Hostutler
Hi, some of these records are at the LDS library in Salt Lake City, usually
called a manifest for the Navy, do not know what the Army would have been
called - but they are on films (like a census) and I do not know if you can
get them on loan like a census - but you can have them sent to the nearest
LDS Stake or whatever they call it. MJB

I hope I can help you some. My grandmother's name was Elizabeth Church and my grandfather's name was Leonard Sloane Gay. I believe they both came from Georgia. There is a Leonard S. Gay listed as being born in Thomasville, Ga in 1874 the son of William F. Gay. The children of this couple included Doc (who died of appendicitis in about 1917-18), Pearl (yours?) who died sometime in the late 20's(as I was told), Alice who married Mode Choate and lived in Simboro, La. (They both died in 1962.), Connie (my mother), Bonnie, Lawrence and Louie. Please let me know if you think we are talking about the same couple, and I will see what else I can help you with. They lived in Wetumpka, Ala and all the children were born in Wetumpka.

Hi! I'd like to take you up on the offer of Church family info. My
great-grandmother was Maria(h) Jane Church born 5 May 1845 in Allen County,
Ohio, died 17 April 1916 in Center Point, Linn County, Iowa. I believe that
she is the daughter of Perez or Peres W. Church (born 2 Sep 1809, died 12
Feb 1853) and Elizabeth Reese. Would you have any information on the
ancestors of Peres and Elizabeth? Thanks for your time.
Rita
