Just found this message board. Your message is over a year old...are you still looking? They are my 4th g grandparents. Abigail was daughter of Nathaniel Church and Innocent Head. What do you wish to know?
Hello Frank, I've done a little digging on the subject of the Church
surname. Several origins are suggested. Firstly, from a geographical
origin, e.g. Atta church; this goes back into the 1300s in England.
Secondly, from an occupational origin, as being a worker for a church.
Thirdly, from an adoption origin, as when a child was given to a church
organization to be reared by people employed by a church. All classes of
people, from upper-class to the lower classes could bequeath their children
to a church; there was usually no stigma attached to the practice. If you
have any other origins, please let me know. Thanks.

I am looking for all descendants of John Barker Church 1808-1875. I believe he was born in PA and died in the Belmont (Scarborough on Hudson) area of NY. He was married 1831 to Maria Trumbull Silliman of New Haven CT.

I am on an impossible search. My G-grandfather was born April 1, 1901. He was given up for adoption. He was born either in Greenbay, WI or somewhere in Indiana. His mother's name was possibly Katherine Church. If she was at LEAST 15 when giving birth than she'd be born 1985 or earlier. If anything sounds familiar please email or post. Thank you.

In all your research do you have any references to a Hugh and Sarah Church

Just wondering.

My name is Debbie Hostutler. I grew up in Hundred, WV and my great aunt and uncle were John Stanley and Audrey Church. John was a dentist in Hundred for many years. I found that on my grandmother's side, her great-great grandmother was Sarah Church ( 16Nov.1805- 16Nov1891) who was married to Peter Sole. Sarah is a direct line descendant of Henry Church, the founder of the town. I am a beginner researching this line and would deeply appreciate any information regarding this line. As I do research at the Family History Center here I would be willing to share what I find with those who share with me. Thank you very much. Debbie Hostutler dlhostutler(a)yahoo.com
Bill, do you have the parents for Marvin Church? Doug
