Jane Church and Nelson B. Childs were my gggrandmother's parents. Their daughter Ella Childs married Frank Callaway. Their daughter Ruth Rebecca Callaway was my maternal grandmother. I am delighted to find your entry as I didn't have any information about Jane's ancestry.

Hi,
Does anyone have a connection between Lydia Church, born April 5, 1751
in Great Barrington, MA, and Richard Church, Jr., born Feb. 16, 1600/01
in London, England? He may have been her great great grandfather.
Lydia married John Kellogg, Jr., born April 17, 1755 in Tryingham, MA.
Richard Church, Jr. married Ann Marsh, born 1600 in England. Both died
in Hatfield, MA.
One family tree I came across said that Richard and Ann were ancestors
of President Gerald Ford.
Thanks,

Hi -
I would love to know more about the descendants of your Lydia Church. I
have a Fannie Church, b. 1807-1809, reportedly in Hartford CT, though I
suspect she may have been born in MA or NY. The most likely family for her
might well have been in MA, in one of the towns along the CT River. Her
father-in-law was a doctor, and I have reason to suspect that her father
might also have been a doctor.
Fannie married Nathaniel Eggleston Hooker, and they had seven sons, the
eldest of whom was also a doctor. Nathaniel was descended from practically
the entire group of Hartford's original settlers, so it would seem most
likely that Fannie also came from that group. However, I have gone over
that family with a fine-tooth comb, and nothing has come up that remotely
fits her circumstances.
By contrast, the names of Fannie's children match up very nicely with the
Church-Marsh-Kellogg line, and it's the one I keep coming back to. Have you
seen anyone in your Church family who might be a candidate for my Fannie?
(I have absolutely not a clue as to whether Fannie was a nickname or her
"real" name; it's an odd name for a conservative Hartford family, but
perhaps it was used in some other lines.)
Thanks!
Maureen

My question is one about Basil Rorison Church(person) and the UU
Church(religion)to which he was apparently affiliated. On their sermon
THERE IS NO HELL IN MERRICKVILLE they claim that Basil came to Canada in
1831 while his daughter Julia Ann was apparently baptized "Church, Julia
Ann, dau Basil R. & Esther, born Wolford (no date), bp.
22 May 1825."(--Rideau Circuit Baptisms, 1824-1843). Now my question is how
can he have a child baptized 6 years before he came to Canada or how can he
come to Canada 6 years after he had already baptized at least two children
here prior to 1831. There is also a mention of a Mary Ann Church that was
the first woman preacher in Canada, could this have been his third wife?
Here is the reference to the sermon. " http://www.uuottawa.com/sermon5.htm
Did the UU Church error in his coming to Canada?
Here is a link to Mary Ann Church whom they call the first woman preacher
in Canada of any denomination was probably Universalist Mary Ann Church of
Merrickville, Ontario;
http://uuottawa.com/cuh1.html
Basil is also the son of Jonathan Mills Church and his wife Mary Munsall
and a grandson of Malachi Church and Elizabeth Mills. I believe Jonathan to
be the man my 3rd Great Grandfather Oliver Church(no Loyalist) lived with
when Oliver and his wife Margaret had a young family in Upper Canada.

Hi listers. I am trying to find further details on the following person - Mary Ann CHURCH.
She married a Charles Thomas Burgess/iss 20.4.1870 at Lambeth, UK. they had the following children -
Albert Edward 1874, Lambeth, UK

Mary and Charles were separated by death or other means and Charles took his children to a orphanage and later settled with them at Tilbury, Essex, UK.
