Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Further to my post yesterday on Garret Church here is another book on him.
Thanks to Richard for passing this on to me.
In further reference to Garrett: Another book that may help is "Pioneers of
Massachusetts" by Charles Pope. It mentions the Watertown
Proprietorship, discusses his contribution to a Fort at Boston in April of
1634 and contains a copy of a deposition he made in 1662 at age 51. I do
not have access to the book.
Someone was asking about books on Garret Church. Here is a book forwarded
to me by Richard Church.
He is mentioned in "The Genealogy Dictionary of the First Settlers of New
England", on page 384. It lists him, his birthday and a list of his kids,
along with the statement "Garrett Church was one of the Proprietors of
Watertown.
My Name is John Grimson Church and my family hail from around
Huntingdonshire in England. I have only just started to research my family
tree but if I find anything of interest I will pass it on . I would also
appreciate any help from anyone related to the Church family.
As amatter of interest the "Grimson" comes from my granmothers family
Fathers side and was inherited from Sir Robert Grimson who died without a
mail heir

John Church

I am a Church. My family is from the corner of OK/AR/MO
Charles F. Church was born in 1865 in Benton County. His son Felix was an
Oklahoma state senator.
I can't seem to find the parents of Charles.
Thanks,Chuck

Have you looked at the LDS records? I will also dig around and see what I
can find. But I am sure you will find something if you check the LDS records.

I don't have all the Church members but we do know that there were 3 main
families. You also have to take into account that people immigrated to
America after these Church families were already established here and also
the fact that some people such as "HOGG" 's had their name changed to
CHURCH. So there is a lot of work yet to be done if you don't know which
family you belong to. They might have immigrated right from England shortly
before they show up in a Census. I would recommend to check the Census
records or local records and see where they claim to have been born.
In my case it doesn't help because we can't find them where they say they
are from anyways. We just keep chugging along, someday we might find them..
Good Luck.
Jim
Jim,
You say that there are 3 original Church Families? Well, here's a conundrum
for you,,, Which family does Dorris Church belong to? Male, died in Greene

These are what I call the three original families and if you can find
yourself in one family then you can find books. I know there are lots of
books written about Richard and Ann's descendents and probably the same
amount on Richard and Elizabeth, and Garrett I have not researched that

I am a descendent of Garrett Church, but have not to date found a source on
him or his ancestry, other than being born in Eng in 1611. Would be
appreciative if I found a book, etc., on him. Thx. Rick Church

There is also a booklet about the CHURCHes of Chewton Mendip, back to 1700,
available at Chewton Mendip Parish Church, for inspection only, and also
from myself, in return for a contribution to costs.

Yes there are many CHURCH BOOKS and Books that detail the lives of
Church's. The only way you will know which Church Book to look up is to
find out which if any of the 3 original Church families you are after.
You need to know whether you are a descendent of
Richard Church and Ann Marsh (Vt. & Ma.)
Richard Church and Elizabeth Warren (RI)
or
Garret Church and Sarah (who I believe went to New Hampshire)
Let us know which family you want and you will know the books.
These are what I call the three original families and if you can find
yourself in one family then you can find books. I know there are lots of
books written about Richard and Ann's descendents and probably the same
amount on Richard and Elizabeth, and Garrett I have not researched that
much of but I would imagine there are some on his descendents as well.
Hi Gary:
I'm looking for Churches, and I was wondering if you could give me a brief
rundown on this family? Anything would be appreciated!
BTW< I can across an Asa Church and Lydia Lewis being married 5/22/1805 in

I recently returned from the LDS Historical Archives Department in Salt
Lake City, Utah. I was looking for information on Haden Wells Church, Sr.
Upon inquiring I was told that they do not have any documents, journals,
pictures, ect. on him.
He was an early LDS missionary and they would like to have him included
in their collection.
I know he kept missionary journals because I have transcribed copies. If
you have anything (orginals or copies) that you would be willing to include
in the LDS collection, please contact me and I can put you in touch the
Southern States Achivist.
Thanks
Lisa

I have permission from Jeremy to forward this to all the lists. As a
sidebar to his statements if you can't read between the lines as I can't.
This Show is only open to CANADIANS, and the travel MUST be to your roots
across the ocean. I am sending this to some American lists I am on because
I am sure there are Canadians who also have roots overseas. If you have any
questions please email Jeremy privately and not me.

Hi, Just some more info to thoroughly confuse you! The northwest corner of
Vermont changed many times from being part of Canada or the USA. While the
USA, it also changed what county name it was called. People drifted over
the border without a second thought. So----- your info may be correct
though confusing! nightsong(a)worldnet.att.net
