Im looking for a connection to my great grand father. His name was Wilbert
Merton Church. He was born about 1861. He married Julia Bowen and lived
in Romeo, Mi. before he left his family. He was never heard from again.
My link stops there. My great grandmother never spoke of him after that.
They had 5 children, 4 lived. Thanks
Researching family of Miles Church. Miles was born,we believe between 1880 &
1885 in or near Evart,Michigan. At least he resided near there. Miles married
Mattie Ralpf October 2,1904 in Mecosta County,Michigan.Miles & Mattie had at
least six children-- Florence Church,m? Van Sickle(resided in Flint Mich. at
one time);Marjorie Church,m ? Alberta;Velma Church,m. ? ASlexander(Lived in
Davison,Michigan at one time);Mary Church;Roy Church;Carl Church.Carl lived
for a time in Lakewood,New Jersey.A news article in family keepsakes, though
to be about Miles Church, lists his name as Myron S. Church?. He had at least
14 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren.
We can follow Miles Church's ancestry back through his parents John
Henry Church & his mother Hellen Tyler Church through her parents Joseph
Tyler & Myrena Schutt. What we have here is the sum of our knoeledge
concerning Miles Church. Miles's sister Charlotte Myrena Church/Echlin was
my grandmother.
Any help filling any of the gaps would be a great starter. Not
specific,because SOOO much to learn.

Bermondsey and Kent sound like southern England. Are there towns here by
that name, also? I'm sure therey's Kent, but Bermondsey is a little long for
any American to fool with. Barb of St Pete

try midland, saginaw, gladwin, bay city, michigan
a lot of the "Church" clan in that area. Hope this helps.
Good morning. There is an effort by descendants of Yankee John Church,
1736-1811 to organize a Church family reunion in Wilkes County, NC
(Wilkesboro, NC). This is the home state and county of this family. The
reunion is being planned for the summer of 2001. In a few weeks I will
travel to this area in an effort to find a suitable (cheap) site and to
acquire as much information about Yankee John and his children as possible
so that a driving tour may be planned. I have some basic information
about a location for his plantation but everything is very sketchy at this
point.
What I am asking of all of you is help with further information about this
family and of anyone who is familiar with the Wilkes Co. area for
suggestions as to a suitable site, i.e.. park with a shelter, campground or
others locations where a reunion may be held.
Also need information regarding the location of the local visitors bureau
and genealogy society.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, and I will keep all of you apprised of
our progress and a date as soon as possible. Please do not hesitate to
submit any information that you may have no matter how small. I will try to
piece it all together when I get to NC after Thanksgiving. It is possible
that there is already a Church reunion in that area, if so great. Please
let me know about any that you know of and we can all go there.
