Does anybody have any information on the Church Family of Danbury Vt., I
believe an ancestor of mine Oliver Church Jr. may have been born there to
Oliver Church and Margaret Pangborn abt. 1796. I don't have any other
information other than they moved to Canada probably during the war when
the rest of the Church and Rose and probably Pangborn familes were kicked
out of Vt., My family I do not believe to be the Loyalist family but a very
close relation, is there anybody that can shed some lite on the situation?

Anyone interrested on Timothy Church might be interrested in this
newspaper! I had this sent to me by Mr. Bishop and I thought I would share
it with everybody. I personally do not vouch for it authenticity nor do I
have anything to do with this paper.

John Marion Church was born "up around Nashville" TN ca 1850. His
parents were, according to his death certificate, Frank Church and ----
Thompson. A Franklin Church and Caroline Thompson married in Cannon Co.,
TN, in 1848 - possibly his parents. A Benjamin F. Church was listed with
his wife, Mary, and son John M. (b. 1850) in the 1850 census of
Rutherford Co., TN - again, possibly this family. Supposedly John's
father was in the Civil War. Supposedly John was related to a fiddler
who played at the Grand Ol' Oprey (perhaps Uncle Jimmy Thompson?). John
told that his mother was a midwife who would go up into the mountains of
TN to deliver babies. By ca 1870 he was in AR, married first to Mary
Holden and then to Emily Jane Parsons (by ca 1882). He died in Saline
Co., AR, in 1926.
I need confirmation of the names of John Marion Church's parents and
the names of his siblings.

They had at least one son: Robert Reynolds. I don't know much of anything on this CHURCH line of mine.

I do not and will not get into a discussion on the lists about this but I
have found a serious problem with PAF 4.0 which could be devistationg.
Before you backup your work fo back and check some of your other familes. I
have had a problem where PAF has disconnected all my families. That could
be devistating if a person was not aware of it. I am going back to my older
version of PAF until they bring out a patch for this. I love the program
and have already created a web page with it but I cannot afford to lose
everybody in it. So be warned and be careful!

Good luck in your research. The Church's are difficult people to sort out.
I think you will find a lot of the Church's in Micigan were descendents of
Vt. Church's. Possibly your ancestors moved from Upper Canada to Michigan
after leaving Vt. for being loyal to the British side or just refusing to
take up arms against the British. A lot of the Vt. Church's moved to Upper
or Lower Canada after being forced out of Vt. and then when the fighting
was over the descendents moved back to the U.S. at least that is the story
of my Church's who moved from Vt. to Upper Canada and then down to Michigan
before moving west to Western Canada.

Hello
Im new to this list and so Im posting my research interests.
James F. CHURCH was born March 1853 in (Kalamazoo) MI, and died bef. April
1910. He married Cynthia A. HOYT March 09, 1882 in Vicksburg, Kalamazoo,
MI, daughter of Seymour HOYT and Lucretia DAILEY. She was born August 08,
1848 in Richland, Kalamazoo, MI.
Children of James CHURCH and Cynthia HOYT are:
i. Lucretia CHURCH, b. February 1884, Ohio.
ii. James D. CHURCH, b. March 19, 1886, (Mattawan) MI; d. March 24, 1959,
Otsego, Allegan, MI; m. Hattie B. LEVETT, June 19, 1907, Otsego, Allegan,
Michigan; b. November 16, 1887, Gun Plains twp, Allegan, MI; d. August 04,
1956, Michigan.
iii. Fred W. CHURCH, b. October 1888, Michigan
I dont have anything further on James F. other than, according to census
information, his father was born in Vermont. Currently Im checking into
the Civil War pension records of a Frederick CHURCH of Vermontville, Eaton,
MI (born c. 1829) for a possible connection.
If anyone is familiar with these lines, please let me know.
Thank you, Mary Ellen Palmer
