Karen,
I've got the following CHURCH connection in Fayette Co., KY. I'd love to know more about Thomas CHURCH and Mary.
John GARDNER, d. 22 Jan 1813, Served as a private in the 17th reg't inf. John died in the United States' service and his heirs received five years half-pay in lieu of bounty land, m. 16 Feb 1803 to Mary CHURCH. (I'm guessing that Mary was the daughter of Thomas CHURCH. He witnessed John and Mary's wedding and also Elizabeth Jane GARDINER's marriage in 16 Jul 1830 to Joseph RUSH in Fayette Co., KY. There was a Thomas CHURCH on the Fayette Co., 1788 tax list as well)
They had (order unknown):
William GARDNER
Thomas GARDNER
James GARDNER
John GARDNER
Elizabeth Jane GARDINER, m. 16 Jul 1830 in Fayette Co., KY to Joseph RUSH.
They had a son 5 Oct 1832 at Georgetown, Scott Co., KY named William
Jefferson RUSH

I have ran into a possible amcestor by the name of Church Vincent who
resided Morgan Co. AL.
This was such an unusual name I think it must be a materal surname.
I have found a Petition for Letter of Guardinship Morgan Co. AL. dated
27 Jan. 1874 for a minor Church Vinsant which lists a J.F. Allison as
guardian who resigned his guardianship on this day.
Mobil Co. AL. Wills 1853 - 1873 list

Does anyone recognise these names? Thank you Gail

I have just joined the list and this is my first posting. I am looking for
Bradford Church, the brother of my GGG-grandfather, David Church, as well
as their other siblings and parents. An article in the 1888 Fairfield &
Perry Cos. Ohio Histories lists David's siblings as Bradford, of Lee
Center, IL, and Ficha Church O'Neal of New York. Their half-siblings were
John, William and Sylvester. This article says that they were natives of
Chenango Co., NY. However, a second article that I have found says that
they were born in Marble Head, MA, and as children moved to Chenango Co., NY.
David was by trade a blacksmith, and arrived in Perry Co., OH about 1818,
where he made quite a good life for himself. Any information on the
siblings or their parents would be greatly appreciated. I'd be happy to
share the information that I have on David's line. Thanks.
Donna

I believe Nathaniel had a son Nathaniel, do you have any information on
him. I believe I am a decendent of Richard and Anne, I can prove I am a
decendent of Oliver Church and Margaret Pangborn but I do not see how it is
possible to be the Loyalist Oliver but possibly a very close relative
because my Oliver is living in close proximity to the Loyalist Oliver and
even lived with a member of his family at one time. We seem to know most of
the decendents of Richard except for Nathaniel and he seems to be a mystery
and possible my connection to Richards and Anne.
If you haven't seen Greg Vasey's site on the decendents of Richard and Ann
I would recommend it to you. I also have a web site set up proving why we
don't think Oliver & Margaret are Loyalists. I welcome all coments to it.

Richard Church and Anne Marsh
Samuel Church and Mary Churchill
Samuel Church and Abigail Harrison
Nathaniel Church and Rachel McCraney
Timothy Church and Abigail Church
Richard Billings Church born 1768
I apologize. On my last posting I said that I thought that Lovicy Church was
a grandaughter of Timothy Church, and I was mixing up my generations. She
could be his daughter (sister of Richard Billings Church) but I do not find
her anywhere in that family. Richard Billings Church was married to Mary
"Polly" Pollard, and Lovicy was married to Thomas Pollard; Polly and Thomas
were brother and sister.
Jeremiah Church is in the generation to have been a grandson of Timothy
Church.

Carlisle had been laid out in 1851 by Jeremiah Church and Daniel Monroe. Mr.
Church had named the town Carlisle after a town in Pennsylvania. Carlisle,
Iowa, was incorporated in 1870.
Jeremiah Church had been born in Jericho, New York [now called Bainbridge] in
September, 1796. He laid out the town of LockHaven, Pennsylvania. In 1845 he
came to Des Moines and in 1846 he laid out the town, Dudley, Iowa. It was
about two miles east of present-day Carlisle. He laid out Carlisle in 1851
and moved Dudley to it. He then left Iowa and laid out Franklin, Kansas,
which failed. In later life, he returned to Carlisle. He is buried in the
Carlisle Cemetery in ROW 25.
Hello,
I'm new to this list and to Church family research.
I am seeking any information on Church families in Chenango County, NY in the
late 1700s.
I am especially interested in finding the parents of Lovicy Church who was
born in the 1776, probably in VT and died in 1848 in Seneca Falls, NY. Her
husband was Thomas Pollard 1774-1827. Connected families include Stowell,
Landers, possibly Dickinson, these families of the Afton area. I suspect
Lovicy to be a grandaughter of Timothy Church, a Vermont sufferer who
evidently did not move to Chenango county; however at least one of his sons,
Richard, did.
I am also interested in finding out more about this Church:
(from LDS family search)
(says married abt 1821 PA)
Jeremiah CHURCH (AFN: 1ZG2-8JF)
Sex: M
Born: 22 Sep 1796
Jericho, Bainbridge, NY
Died: 1 Nov 1874
, Warren Co., IA
Buried:
Carlisle, Warren Co., IA
from Name Origins of Northeast Pa Towns
Lock Haven
In 1833, Jeremiah Church bought some land adjacent to the Pennsylvania
Canal and alongside the Susquehanna River. In a display of self-promotion,
Church reasoned that the canal contained a lock, and the river made an
excellent haven for rafts. Thus was born Lock Haven.

I would appreciate help on the following:
Lucy Church born 1763 in Sharon, CT and died 28 Dec. 1812 probably in New
Milford, CT. She married William Hallock (1756 - 1842) of New milford, CT 29
Nov. 1781. I would like to know Lucy's parents, grandparents, etc.
I notice that Rev. War veteran (NSDAR # 394602) John Church (1755 - 1834) had
a daughter named Lucy. Is it possible my Lucy was John's sister who named his
daughter after his sister and/or mother?
William Hallock was son of Rev. War Veteran (NSDAR # 589518) Benjamin Hallock
(1729 - 1796).
