My great grandfather, John Marion Church, was born in Tennessee ("up
around Nashville") at some point around 1850 - three different sources
figure out to be either 1847, 1850, or 1853.
His parents, according to his death certificate, were Frank Church
and ---- Thompson. I found a marriage record in Cannon Co., TN, in 1848
for Franklin Church and Caroline Thompson. In 1850 in Rutherford Co.,
TN, I found B.F. Church and Mary Church, along with their infant son,
J.M. (John Marion?).
Grandpa Church (John) told of being kin to a fiddler who performed at
the Grand Ol' Oprey. I am curious about this: could that fiddler be
"Uncle Jimmie Thompson," who performed at the Grand Ol' Oprey for
several years?
I would appreciate input from anyone who might be able to shed some
light on this family.

-I am looking for the parents and siblings of Rachel Church, born about 1810
in TN or NC. She married Jackson Smith in Maury Co. TN and they were on the
census there from 1840-1880. Rachel is NOT a child of the well documented
Thomas Church there. Is she a niece? Bonnie Reach, Alba, TX
