I would appreciate any and all help on finding information on Nelson Church b.
13 Dec. 1812 in New York. (On his tombstone his name is listed as E. Nelson
Church), all other records I have found are Nelson only. At sometime he moved
to Ohio where he married Mary last name unknown. The following children were
born to them in Ohio: Alfred A. 1832; Olivia 1834; Nancy 1837; Elsina 1838;
Washington 1841; Alonzo 1843; Amealia 1845. They then moved to Mahaska Co.
Iowa where the following children were born Edson 1848; Mary 1852; Sidney 1854
and William 1857.
He died 29 May 1871 Scott township (Auburn PO) Mahaska Co. Iowa.
Thank you for your time,
Karen

Peter,
This is not the type of "help" you want but I had to comment on your
statement that you had information about Richard Warren's ancestry in
England. I, too, had many additional generations in my files, but then I
read in Charles Robert Anderson's, Great Migration Begins, the following
statement: Many attempts, all fruitless, have been made to discover the
English origin of Richard Warren and the identity of his wife [MQ
51:109-12].
I'm afraid that a good deal of my time in pursuit of genealogy results in
finding out that I don't know things I thought I knew!
I would welcome in information that would make me disbelieve Anderson.

I have two of his books (#3 and #7 below) but they were all published in very
small numbers. However he lived in Flushing NY at the time and was very active
with the Long Island Historical Society (I believe it is now the Brooklyn Hist.
Soc.) and upon his death my mother and uncle had all his papers delivered to
this organization. You will also note that he donated copies of each of his
books to this Society. When I noted your residence as being on Long Island I
thought you might be able to access this information directly at their
location. Failing that I could copy what I have and send it to you. I must
confess that I envy your closeness to this organization as any attempts that I
have made to try to contact anyone at Brook. Hist Soc have met with the usual
indifference. I suspect that in their care should be a lot of information,
perhaps much that refers directly to the CHURCH family that you describe.

Hi Fellow Church surname researchers!!!
THis is a very, very new surname list. Seems to me that we have only a few
members to date,
Discussion lists get "good" when people subscribe. For example, I was
among the first to sub to the Greene/Green list, and there was no useful
info until we got the subscription into the hundreds. I would expect the
same with the Church list,,, we need to garner members!!
I recieved permission from the list owner Vicki at KinSeeker6(a)aol.com to
post info about how to sub to our Church list anyplace appropriate.
So, you guys can do the same. If you are subbed to a newsletter, mailing
list, come across an appropriate database, etc, please do announce our new
surname list and subscription info. If you encounter or know of someone
else researching this surname, let them know we exsist!!
This list wont get to be "good" until we have many members, near as I can
tell right now we have only a few. We need to grow so that we all can
benefit and find our "cousins" or that bit of info to get us over the brick
wall.
In the mean time be patient, we will grow.
Please help, spread the word,, LETS ROCK!!!

Hi Graham!
I think we here are interested in all Church names, at least I am as I feel
that one never knows where that "one big break" in the brick wall may come
in.
I for one, would appreciate your posting the info and descendancy on your
Sarah Church to the list.

Hi Folks!
Who is the list owner of Church-L ? How do I contact him/her?
I would like to get the word out about our list, ie, post it on Eastman's
Genealogical Newsletter for example and/or other places and would like to
know if it is OK for me to do so.
