Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Try the Church Family Genealogy Forum. I've found some good info
there. Also try the State of New York in the U.S. GenWeb project.
sometimes you can find some good stuff there, especially if you know the
name of the county. Rita (searching for parents of Maria Jane Church,
b. 1845 in Allen County, Ohio).

Hello. I am new to this list and these are the people I am seeking:
George CHURCH ( b. ?, d.1886) m. Nancy MURPHY (my GGGgrandparents)
Both are interred in the CHURCH family plot ( #17, section 4) in one of the two cemeteries located at Laurel road in East Northport, Long Island, NY.
So far the records of this have not been found.
Their children were:
Catherine 'Katie' CHURCH (b.1871, d.sometime in 1960 and interred at the same cemetery as her parents)
m. John MCDERMOTT/MACDERMOTT (my GGgrandparents)
They had 11 children that we are aware of: Adilitta, Charles, Raymond, Hazel (1895-1980) m. Wm. Chilton HOYSRADT (my Ggrandparents), Edmund, Sarah Irene, Joseph, Arthur, Mabel, Edward and Cynthia.
They lived in Greenlawn then Northport, LI, NY.
George CHURCH m. unknown and there were 5 children:
George 'Bob' m. Agnes, Harry, Ismay m. Jack Jackson, Louella, 'Tootie'.
William CHURCH m. Minnie E. DUNNING.
William is also in the above cemetery plot.
They had a daughter, Mabel (1890-1984) who m1: unknown HENDRICKSON, and m2: Oscar TOMPKINS.
I do not know if there were other children.
Mabel's children:
William Herbert HENDRICKSON m. Marjorie Baker STOUTENBURG.
Florence HENDRICKSON m. unknown (we cannot remember her married name) and had a son Calvin.
I would very much like to locate descendants of Cousin Mabel. She was very interested in genealogy and was researching the CHURCH name. We lost contact with her around 1980.
She lived in Westchester County and later in Syracuse, NY, as did Florence.
John CHURCH m. Sarah
I do not know how the other names fit in:
Leon CHURCH
Rose CHURCH
Other names said to be in the above mentioned cemetery plot:
Mary Ann
Henry. George in same grave.
Annie. 1897.
George CHURCH. grandfather.
I would very much like to hear from anybody who may have heard of any of these names or anybody who is researching CHURCH family in the same areas of NY. I really do not know where to begin looking other than the cemeteries who are already doing their best to help me. My local library says that I cannot get NY genealogical reference materials through interlibrary loan as the scheme does not operate overseas, so any ideas on what I can access from here in England would be very much appreciated.
I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of some census films from the LDS library which will hopefully give me more to go on...
Thank you.
Angelique Mckeag.

Susan (Suza) CHURCH was born ca. 1779 in VT per 1850 census. She married
Ezra PRATT, Jr. and they settled in Colesville, Broome Co., NY
1800-1850's. I am searching for the parents of Susan CHURCH. I suspect
she was related to the CHURCH's of Afton and Bainbridge, Chenango Co,.
NY who came there as "Vermont Sufferers" but have found no proof of such
a connection. Any information will be appreciated.

In the files I have, originally researched by Dorothy Crowe Hinkey over 20
years ago, Alpha E. Church (no birth date), is the daughter of Gabriel
Church (no birth date) and Nancy Emaline Foster b. 18 May 1813. Gabriel
Church is the son of John Church b. 1760 and Nancy Moore. John Church is
the son of "Yankee John" Church and ? Stamper.
My files do show Alpha E. Church's marriage to Rufus Eller on 12 Sept 1867
in Wilkes Co., NC.
I'm still in the process of transferring all of Dorothy's research into
FamilyTreeMaker, so don't know if I have transferred _all_ of the
information I have on Alpha E. Church yet or not.
BTW, my direct line of Church ancestors are Yankee John to Elijah to
William B. "Preacher Billy", to Thomas Jefferson "Jeff", to Thomas Walter,
to Dale Leo, to my father, then myself.

Jacquelyn "Searching for parents of Joel Church, b. 1829 at Jobes Cabin,
NC, and Rhoda Catherine Payne, b. 1828."
I have Joel Church, b. 10/8/1823, Wilkes Co., NC, married 9/29/1844 to
Rhoda Catherine Payne. (If Joel was b. 1829, and marriage date is
correct, Joel would have been only 15 at time of marriage.) Joel and
Rhoda had 8 children.
Joel's father was Gabriel Church; his mother was Sally Beshears. I am
confused about Gabriel's date of birth--some say 1762 and an equal
number say 1794. It's driving me nuts. Good luck! Joan

What I wouldn't give for fewer John Churches. My John Church, b. 1734
in VA. Perhaps one of the first settlers who came from VA and settled
in Rowan County, NC. Then moved to Wilkes County, now a part of Ashe
County, known as Herzog Place on New River, then moving back to LewisFork.
His son Amos, b. 1758 in VA, m. Elizabeth Spink 1783
John, Jr. b. 1760, m. Nancy Moore (1) and Jane Andrews (2)
Gabriel b. 1762, Lewis Fork, NC, m. Sally Beshears
Philip b. 1765 Lewis Fork, m. Sarah Hannah Andrews
Elijah b. 1768, Lewis Fork, m. Charity (Roberts or Craft--another
mystery to unravel
I am descended from Gabriel thru son Joel b 10/8/1823 as well as from
Elijah thru son William, b. 1809, m. Sarah (Sallie) Linderman. I have
more info if anybody wants to know.______________________________

but, for Gene, and any other tolerant grandparents- I have a new
great grandson! In Burkburnett, Tx, 7#6oz, 19 1/2" long. His middle name
is Neil, after his grandpa. I have yet to hear his first name. Will see
him, later in Nov. Thanks for your patience. Barb of St Pete.
Hit the wrong button- Sorry- I'll do Elvira again, for overlap
Elvira b 11 Aug 1815
Maria b 6 May 1817
Lydia b 2 Feb 1819
Clarissa b 7 June 1823
There were, of course, boys, shuffled in there. No Fanny, but they
certainly did change their names at a whim. What do you think about the
Hogg people who supposedly changed their name to Church? Enough to make
you tear your hair out. Barb of St Pete
