You mentioned Celia Chunn, sister of William Chunn. Do you have any information on Celia Chunn, sister of Matthew Locke Chunn?
Thanks!

What I have just added to my knowledge of Mattie Chunn.
She and her husband James Robert Blackburn are in the 1900 census in Vermillion Co., Clinton Twp. This is home territory for her. She was born here and so was her father. They are family #10 and he farms, farm #8.
In this census they asked for month and year of birth as well as age. They had been married 13 years, had 5 children and 4 are living. In the household was
James age 53, born ? month in 1847 IL IN KY
Mattie 27 Mar1872 IN IN IN
John 15 Oct 1884 IN IL I N
Martha 9 Apr1891 IN
William 5 Sep1894 IN
Rufus 4 Dec1895 IN
Mariah 8/12 Aug1899 IN
There is one child from a previous marriage and the answer to the question of #of children born and # of children living was to apply to the wife in the family. So it would seem that she has lost one child since the marriage 13 years ago.
1910, same area
Robert Blackburn 62 Married 2 times Married for 22 years no occupation
Mattie 37 Married 1 time 10 children , 6 living
???? (male) 24 works in coal mine
George 2 born IN
All birthplaces same as before.
I wonder what happened to all of the children. The name I couldn't read above must have been John. Martha is married, but where are the rest of them? I am going to look for Blackburn children living with other families and see what I can find.
Found these marriages
Mattie married James R. Blackburn March 4, 1890 Vermillion Co IN at age 17.
Martha married Arthur Darby January 24, 1911
Mattie Blackburn married Edward McIntosh but I don't know when. There are application records one for Mattie which says she was born March 3, 1877 - the daughter of William C. Chunn and Aron Towsly.
Edward McIntosh born July 22, 1859 was the son of John McIntosh and Celia Dooley. The marriage date was not given. It was not on the CD I have. There are many errors in transcription on these because they were done by WPA workers and they were not necessarily familiar with local names. They were reading written records. I think Mattie's birthdate above is wrong. It should be more like 1872 not 1877. It is 1875 on an earlier census. I don't know what to think.

I know your Mattie. She is a first cousin to Alice Chunn who is my g grandmother. You need to look further north. She is in the 1880 census with her brothers and sisters and parents in Vermillion County, Indiana. I have many ancestors for her. Her grandfather was in Clark Co Indiana for a while but I think the census you found belongs to, related but not directly, other Chunns. Yes, there is a bridge. The place this branch of the family settled is in the southern part of Vermillion Co. There was a place called Chunn's Crossing. Before the bridge I suspect it was a shallow part of Brouliette's Creek where wagons forded the creek. Chunn owned land there. A covered bridge was built and stood for a long time before it was destroyed by fire about 20 years ago (if I remember right). I have a page out of a local history with a picture of the bridge. I am looking for it and will share. Would be happy to share the long list of ancestors too. Her father was William Ch!
unn and her mother was Nancy Townsend. Robert Blackburn was married before he married Mattie.

Hello,
I'm interested in finding Mattie (Rosette) CHUNN. This would be my gr. grandmother. She was in the southern part of Indiana. I was told there was a bridge in Indiana named after her father. but i dont know that either. I do know she married a Robert Blackburn. Then married a McIntosh/MacIntosh.
I have found a Thomas R. Chunn in the 1820 Federal census. (Indiana) located in Fayette Co. Also Found a Eliza Chunn in
Clark County,IN.
