September 11, 2002 - A Way To Honor Our Nation Together September 11, 2002
is soon approaching. On that day, please wear red, white and blue to work or
school to show your support for those who lost their lives on 9~11~01 and to
honor the heroes who worked to save them and the families left behind. At
noon your time on September 11, 2002, no matter where you are or what you
are doing, stop, put your hand on your heart, and say the Pledge of
Allegiance out loud or to yourself and say a prayer for our nation. If all
of us do this together in every time zone around the world, we will have a
powerful chain of thoughts surrounding us. Please keep this going to your
friends and family. By September 11, 2002 hopefully enough people will have
read this and will join together in unity. God Bless the U.S.A.

Wouldn't the sight of millions of people dressed in colours of "freedom"
pledging allegiance to OUR country, together, make your hearts soar with
gladness and pride? Please do it, and Do pass this along. Print it and place
it on a bulletin board at work, or your local store. I don't often ask folks
for emails to be passed along- but I take this one to heart, and I will be
one of those folks who reaffirm my pride and committment to this country, yet
again.

Hello again,
Tip for Friday:
The following site was described in the Genealogy Online, 6th Edition.
(author elizabeth powell crowe)
Library of Congress:
"The mission of the LOC at www.loc.gov is to make the resources available and
useful to the Congress and the American People and to sustain and preserve a
universal collection of knowledge and creativity for the future generations."
To this end, since its founding in 1800, LOC has amassed more than 100
million items and become one of the world's leading cultural insitutions. The
LOC web site, makes a small portion of the LOC's contents available to the
world through the internet. "
Ya'll can take a gander at:
After the page opens, click on the "American Memory" icon on the left of the
seal, then just explore and see what they have. There is supposedly a section
in here named African American Odyssey, I didn't see it right off, but it is
supposed to be a good resource for researching African American Roots.
I have checked it out a little.. but have not had too much time to play
there.
Ya'll let me know if it seems to be a good place to bookmark!
'I'll be back on Monday! Ya'll have a great weekend!

outburst of emotion,
but the tranquil and steady
dedication of a lifetime."

Try these sites for additional searches in Genealogy.
www.accessgenealogy.com --- I have had a lot of use from the world genealogy
section on the mid-right of this main page. Reckon parts of this page are
linked to Ancestry.com and others, but it does a fine job!
If any of ya'll have had members of congress in your line try this:
bioguide.congress.gov/biosearch/biosearch.asp nice little sight!
The following addres is more than just a search spot, its called a portal,
because it offers browser based chat site and free email box.

That's it for the day guys. I will send more sites as I file them in my
system. Hope these are useful!

~~Kind words can be short and easy to speak,~~
~~but their echoes are truly endless.~~
Actually I figured this out abt 4am. While researching the Cheney/Chaney
Familes of Massachusetts I had been having problems pinning them down. It
seemed that they moved between Mass and Mississippi with impunity. The town
names were the same, but the state kept changing. About 4am this morning with
rockets going off as my dimwitted self exploded with knowledge I figured it
out.
In written records pre-dating the standardization of 2 letter abbreviations
for the 50 states- I found that I can't jump to conclusions. MA is the
abbreviation for Massachusetts. It was once written as "Ma" but also common
was the abbreviation "Ms"- now I know why these folks moved so much between
Massachusetts and Mississippi ! Boy- I feel stupid!
Another lesson learned in my chase of dead folks!
