Newspaper Obituary: Name of person, Current Residence, Survivors at the time,
, Pre-deceased spouse names, Burial information, Parents Birth dates and

not always include all the above.

Passenger Lists: Name of person, date of arrival, last residence, destination
and possibly birthplace. Some of the older Passenger Lists will have a
Captain's Log with other information of time at sea-such as sickness, birth,
death, etc. If the person shares a cabin and the relationship to the second
person may also be given. In most cases the immigrants were not able to
afford a cabin, and their mode of transportation (such as steerage, cabin,
etc.) will sometimes be given.
"Whenever I'm caught between two evils, I usually take the one I've never
tried".
Hello!
I began researching my family with the idea that this would be a snap. I was
wrong! I have so much to learn its nearly overwhelming! So for the year 2002
my main focus is to organize my family research files and make some sense of
the clutter that I pretend is 'documentation'. Easier said than done?
Probably. I have spent months trying to find all of the scraps of paper, the
copies of emails, the torn napkins with cemetery information on them, and the
lost addresses and phone numbers that have probably found some box in the
garage to nest in by now.
I have made list after list of ways to accomplish my goal. Yes, I formed a
plan of attack! The most logical move is to educate myself on the resources
available. It also occured to me that I should make an effort to share what I
am learning. This letter is an explanation of sorts, just to let you know
what to expect and hopefully not all of you will be bored to death by my
submissions.
The emails will be labelled as Research and Resource -Week 1. ( and then 2,
3 etc.) I encourage any and all comments. The addition of your insights and
tips are welcomed as always!
I would also like to make a "beginners packet". Something that we can offer
to new(er)researchers that will help organize them from the beginning. If you
have any ideas, bright or otherwise, please email!
Sincerely,
Dianne Killebrew Johnson

Just in case any of you CHUNN researchers are interested, there is a CHUNN mail list that I subscribe to where we post messages to help each other in our research. It is available in either digest mode [all messages together during a certain time frame] or in individual mode [each message sent to all members as it is posted]. If anyone is interested in subscribing to the CHUNN mail lists, the instructions are as follows:
To subscribe to the digest mailing, CHUNN-D, send a message to CHUNN-D-(a)rootsweb.com that contains in the body of the message the command subscribe and no other text. No subject line is necessary, but if your software requires one, just use subscribe in the subject, too.
To subscribe to the individual mailing, CHUNN-L, send a message to CHUNN-L-(a)rootsweb.com that contains in the body of the message the command subscribe and no other text. No subject line is necessary, but if your software requires one, just use subscribe in the subject, too.
Hope to see some of you posting messages that we can all help each other with in our research.
And, by the way, everytime anyone posts a message to this board, your message shows up on our CHUNN mail list too, so maybe some of you are getting answers to your questions, but just didn't realize it, because when we answer an inquiry, it is replied back to our mail list, but not back to this message board. It took me a couple of postings and not hearing any replies from the ones I've posted answers to before I figured that out. DUH! Hope you'll all join us.
Just another lost CHUNN researcher, Nancy Sue

Hi fellow CHUNN researchers,
I'm sorry, I can't remember who it was that made the posting that they have an artist drawing of the complete CHUN Castle, but, if you would be so kind, I would love it if you would send me a copy of that picture. I have printed out all the pictures of the ruins of CHUN Castle, and what a joy it would be to see an artist rendering of how the castle looked before its destruction.
Just a note to give you all some URL's where you can go to see pictures of the ruins of CHUN Castle and some history about same. Hope this helps someone.

Hi,- I dont have any spouse names you have for J.H.
Are you talking about Joseph Henry Chunn who came from Illinois to southern Missouri? (bootheel). The Martha I show him married to (from 1898 until their death) was Martha Johnson. I have photos of him and her together in a group with her father "grandpa Johnson", and of just her and grandkids. I show his first wife as Alice Evans married 1893, who died in childbirth about 1896. ????? Jan
PS - that castle -- do you have some kind of documentation showing THIS line of Chunns being connected, or just AN English line being connected? If it's THIS line which derives from it, I'd love to have copy of pic.
