Why don't you get their death certificates? This will tell the names of John Richard's and Willie Mae's parents.

Thanks!!!! My grandfather was Arthur Malone Chumley. He was born on 14 Aug 1909 and died in Jan 1992. He lived in Gordon, Alabama and talked of Cottonwood. His father was John Richard Chumley, 14 Feb 1883 - 30 Nov 1961, and his mother was Willie Mae McNeil, 29 May 1883 - 15 Jun 1951. Besides my grandfather they had John Tyler, Lee, Beulah, Lonnie and Johnnie Mae. John R. and Willie Mae are buried in the Dellwood Baptist Cemetery in Jackson County, Florida.
I know that this isn't really much to go on......I haven't found out too much!!! Any help, ideas and/or suggestions that you can give me is really appreciated!!!!

I think this Mahala Chumley applied to the Dawes Commission in either 1896 or 1906. I think she was trying to claim Indian ancestry.
