Tiffany,
I've never run across Markey Calvin Chumley before during my research, but I found him in the 1920 US Census for Pittsylvania County, Virginia and in the 1930 US Census for Caswell County, North Carolina. Excerpts from the census records follow:
====================================
1920 US Census for Pittsylvania County, VA.
William T. Chumley, age 74, head of household
Mattie F., wife, age 35
Pearl V. daughter, age 17
Willie Y., son, age 15
Dewey F., son, age 11
Leonard M., son, age 8
Mary E., daughter, age 5
Markie C., son, age 2 5/12
The census also indicates that Markey, his mother, father, sisters, and brothers were all born in Virginia.
======================================
1930 US Census for Pelham, Caswell County, North Carolina.
Willie Y. Allen age 24, head of household
Mattie F. Black (could be Blacer) age 46, mother (She's Willie's mother and Markey's mother)
Leonard M. Allen, age 19, brother
Mary E. Chumley, age 16, half sister
Markie C. Chumley, age 12, half brother
Raymond W. Chumley, age 9, half brother
Bessie F. Chumley, age 5, half sister
The census also indicates that Markey, his mother, his father, sisters, and brother were born in Virginia.
=======================================
I did a quick search of Roots-Web, Ancestry.com, and FamilySearch.org, and didn't find any other references to Markey.
By the way, it's very interesting that I had a great-great-great-Uncle William T. Chumney who disappeared during the Civil War. I assumed he died of wounds suffered in the battle of Fredericksburg, but the age of your GGGGrandfather William T. Chumley in 1920 is the same age that my GGGUncle William T. Chumney would have been. However, my William T. was definitely born in Henry County, Alabama. Who knows, though, the census takers were pretty sloppy on the state of birth information.
I could not find William T. Chumney in the 1910 census records.
