To all,
I returned from England in October 2001...only there for 10 months, when my job moved me again. Tried to follow-up on one lead that said a Chumbley ancestor was buried in or near Rochester Castle in England...no such luck. Checked with the caretakers and the clergy and there was no chumbleys/chumleys buried in or near the castle. Since then I've been moved overseas several times, lost our daughter during child birth and am now retired. I have not looked at genealogy since 2000 and have not kept up on any genealogy email traffic; just haven't had time with all that's been going on. My wife, Barbara, has now caught the genealogy bug and is doing great things on her line "Beard/Mott".
I've lost contact with most of the people I knew on this site, including my distant cousins in Oklahoma, Idaho and New Mexico. There was a gentleman in California that wanted me to participate in a DNA test to see if we are a "true" Chumbley bloodline, seems some Prescotts(?) got in the mix, way back when...haven't had time nor funds to pursue this line of thought either.
Don't be insulted if I don't respond. All the genealogy information I had has already been shared and or posted on the chumbley rootsweb website. I've not added anything since then.
Are we all still stuck in Virginia in 1740ish timeframe ? Last I knew 81 of us were pursuing the same line and we were all stuck there.
Hope all is well with everyone.
Richard Chumbley
