Hi Lynn
Doesn't the census state where they were born? If you get the marriage certificate that will help with their fathers names.
>From my database I do not have them in my family files

I am so happy to hear that you have a lot of information on the Chumbley family. I am searching for the parents of Havana Chumbley, b. 1/20/1898 in Williamsburg, KY. The census reports her father's name as James Chumbley and her mother's name as Alice Shipman Chumbley but I cannot find them anywhere else. Do you have any of these names in your files?
I am related to Havana (Vannie) Chumley through my half-sister and brother who were her grandchildren, Susan and Patrick Hurst aka Heatwole.
Any information will be really appreciated.
Lynn Sachs

Thanks for your reply. I am related to the Chumbleys in a number of ways.
1. My great great grandmother was Emma Elizabeth Chumbley, born in Woodford Bridge in 1832 and the daughter of John Robert Chumbley and Elizabeth Amelia Witham. Emma's daughter (my great grandmother) was Charlotte Elizabeth Rennett.
2. Charlotte Rennett married George Henry Thoroughgood (my great grandfather), a grandson of Sarah Chumbley, who was born 1807 in Woodford Bridge and the daughter of Joseph Chumbley and Mary Ann Fuller. So you could say that George and Charlotte were loosely related.
3. George Henry Thoroughgood was the son of Charles John Thoroughgood and Amelia Ann Mead. Charles's brother , another George Thorogood, married Sarah Chumbley (Amelia's mother). So, strange as it may sound, Sarah Chumbley was Amelia Mead's mother and sister-in-law!
Samuel Chumbley was Sarah Chumbley's grandfather, which makes Samuel Chumbley my 5th Great Grandfather. So I'm the same generation as your husband.
Mary

Hi Mary
Yes I have quite a lot on the Chumbley family, though I have not been able to trace the family of Samuel.
Samuel is the 5x great grandfather of my husband.
How are you related to the family?

Your posting is quite old but I am also researching Samuel and Ann Chumbley. I have their marriage in 1767 at St Mary's Chigwell and their first child born that same year. the name of this child was Samuel Chumbley.
Hope it helps
Mary
