"If you can't get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it

Hi all,
I am forwarding the sad message some of us received regarding the passing of
Arva Chumley. She amassed and amazing amount of information on the
Chumley/Chumbley line and shared her research with many of us. She will be
sorely missed. Several of the e-mail addresses below are now longer valid,
but hopefully those individuals subscribe to the Chumbley list. As her
granddaughter, Rhoda, asked, please forward this information to other
Chumley/Chumbley researchers. Thank you.

Is this Hunt Co., Texas you are speaking of?
There was no marriages that I know of in Hunt Co., Texas in early
1800's. Hunt Co., Texas was formed in 1846 from Fannin, Nacogdoches of
Republic of Texas. Nacogdoches being the oldest and formed in 1836
from Old Mexican Municipality. Fannin being formed in 1837 from Red
River Co., TX, and Red River being formed in 1836 from Old Mexican
Municipality.
You are correct there was many spellings used for Chumley. All that you
listed and than some. The cen taker could be very creative some time.
Sincerely,
Glenda Mounger
