Hi,
Can anyone on the list tell me the meaning of a couple of Naval abbreviations I found on a couple of headsones, or lead me to a website where I might find them? I did a number of searches on Google, and although I have found numerous websites regarding abbreviations, meanings & symbolism, I cannot find the abbreviations listed below. My husband told me that military abbreviations have changed since these particular wars.
One headstone reads:
California
END3 USNR
World War II Korea
[I'm guessing that USNR refers to U S Naval Reserves and the person was in a California unit, or whatever it is called.]
The other reads:
California
CEM US Navy
World War II
I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

USRN means "United States Naval Reserve."
CEM means "Chief Electrician's Mate."
