It's been awhile (over a year) since I've contacted him, but I'd like to
again, if you'd send me his email.
Thanks,
Alice Chumbley Lora

I have contacted him. He could really use some friends if any of you have
been in contact with him before and would like to talk to him let me know.
Does anyone know another way to get a hold of John ( Poiu5432(a)aol.com)
He sent a disturbing email to me and I am worried about him. He seems like
such a nice person, though pessimistic at times. Please if anyone knows how to
contact him, it sounds like he could use a friend. You don't have to give me
that contact info if you dont want to...but reach out to him if you can.
Thanks,
another of your cousins,
Diana Cofer

Dear Annemarie,
Most of us at the Chumbley web site can get back to an early John Chumbley
in Amelia County, Virginia (who married a Martha Lockett), but it's
difficult to know which Chumbleys were our ancestors in England. The most
complete web site is http://www.hebroots.com/chumney.html.
I am a retired high school teacher [now teaching part-time at a local
university] and next summer when my husband retires from university
teaching, we are planning a two-week stay around the Cotswolds area -- plans
aren't definite yet. We hope to get to the Chester area and visit the
Cholmondeley gardens, but have little hope for making definite connections
between that early John Chumbley/Chumley/Cholmle, etc. and our British
ancestors. It's nice just knowing that we are originally from England and
speak a somewhat common language.
My Chumbley line began its stay in Virginia, moved to Tennessee, then to
Kentucky, where I was born and reared. Also, for generations my Chumbleys
have been school teachers and artists.
Anyway, I hope you hear from some American Chumbleys who can be more
specific about the connection to Essex.
Sincerely,
Alice Chumbley Lora [originally "Lora" was "Lorentz" from Switzerland]
