I was going to try to get to the castle when I went over there in 2000, but I was theere at the wrong time of the year (fall) and nothing was open. At that time the only thing you could tour was the gardens. The castle was not open for tours. I did go to the tower and talked with one of the Beefeaters about the tomb in the chapel at the tower that is the Cholmondeley tomb. He said it was empty and had not been used. He also told me about another group of Cholmondeleys that were from the northeast part of England. That castle is open to tours. I never dug into it too much to be able to decide which area would have been the one connected to the San Augustine Chumbleys. I was able to find out quite a bit at the London City Library which is walking distance from Picadilly Circus.
The main reason I did not get to do much adventuring outside of London was they had their own form of Allison at the time I was there and travelling out in the countryside was discouraged. I just had a couple of days and did not want to get stranded.
Hope you have a great time.

Has anyone on this list ever been to Cholmondeley Castle (pronounced Chumley) in Chesire, UK? I'm wanting to find out more about the gardens, chapel, etc. in preparation for an upcoming trip to England.
