Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
The following items were posted to the Lawrence Co., MO Rootsweb list
yesterday. Myrtle Chumbley was daughter of Ernest Claudius Chumbley (s/o
Sam'l C. Chumbley) & Ona Beasley. The second posting is an obituary for
Ona's father, J. O. F. Beasley. Ona & E. C. Chumbley must have divorced
prior to Myrtle's wedding because her father is not mentioned (E. D. d.
1958). The third item is an obituary for Ona's husband C. F. Bridgman which
mentions the Chumbley step-children.

LUNDH - CHUMBLEY
The marriage of Miss Myrtle Chumbley, daughter of Mrs. Ona Chumbley of Peirce
City, to Mr. Ferrel S. Lundh of Webster Grove, Mo., was solemnized at six
o'clock, Saturday evening in the Chumbley home. Ferns, sweetpeas and a rosy
glow from floor lamps formed a pretty setting for the wedding party. Rev. J.
E. Rains, pastor of the Baptist church, performed the nuptial ceremony in the
presence of the bride and groom's immediate relatives and close friends.
The bride, a most charming young lady, entered on the arm of her brother
They were preceeded by Miss Ophelia Volkl, who served as maid of honor.
The bride was a picture of girlish beauty in her dress of dark blue satin
crepe. She carried a beautiful bridal bouquet of pink rose buds.
After the ceremony a wedding dinner was served. A snowy white wedding cake
made a most beautiful center piece.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Norman Lundh of Strafford, Mi., Mrs. Mary
Mayhew, Mrs. J. T. Phelan, Miss Elizabeth Allen, L. L. Allen, Rev. J. E.
Rains, Miss Ophelia Volkl, Mrs. Ona Chumbley, Misses Ireta, Helen and Mar
cella Chumbley and Harry Chumbley.

J. O. F. Beasley
J. O. F. Beasley died at his home in this city Tuesday evening, January 23,
1917 at 9 p. m. at the age of 68 years, 2 months and 3 days.
He was born in North Carolina November 20th, 1848. From there he moved to
Kentucky and thence to near Exeter, Missouri, where he engaged in farming and
later he moved to the town of Exeter where he was engaged in the mercantile
business for many years. In 1905 he with his family moved to Peirce City
where he resided until his death. He leaves a wife and 14 children, 3
brothers and 1 sister to mourn his death.
They are Mrs. Attie Jones, Hanson, Kentucky, Dan and Walter Beasley of
Hanson, Kentucky, Mrs. Ada Adams of Monett, O. F. Beasley of Tulsa, Oklahoma,
Mrs. E. C. Chumbley of Peirce City, Mrs. E. B. Short of St. Louis, Cora Lee
Beasley of Peirce City, Mrs. W. E. Wallace of Hope, Arkansas, Mrs. C. E.
Woolsey of Monett, Jessie, John and Burtin of Peirce City.
The funeral services were conducted at Exeter, Missouri Thursday afternoon by
Rev. D. Keeton of Granby after which the remains were laid to rest in what is
known as the Crow Pond cemetery beside four children gone before.
He was a man full of energy and ambition and liked to see things moving and
progressing combated life as it came before him.
He was rational to the last and made his own funeral arrangements. He called
all his family to his bed and told them that he was perfectly ready and
willing to go.

Death Claims C. F. Bridgman
Last Rites This Afternoon for Retired Railroad Man
Funeral services for Creed F. Bridgman, 78, who died at his home here at 7
o'clock Monday evening, are being held this afternoon at the First Baptist
church, with Rev. R. W. Forbis officiating.
Mr. Bridgman, a retired railroad man, who was born in Georgia, and had lived
here about six years, had been critically ill with a heart ailment for six
weeks.
Mr. Bridgman was a Mason and a Shriner and was a member of the First Baptist
church.
He lived in El Paso, Texas, where he worked for the Southern Pacific for 37
years, and in California four years, coming to Pierce City form California.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Ona Bridgman of the home; two brothers
Grant Bridgman, El Monte, Calif., and Tom Bridgman, Macon, Ga.; two sisters,
Mrs. Anna Newsome and Mrs. Susan Plaster of Summervillt, Ga.; five
step-daughters, Mrs. C. E. Rogers and Mrs. F. S. Lundh of Joplin; Mrs. Wm.
Rogers and Mrs. Geo. Teagarden of Burbank, Calif, and Mrs. K. G. Baker of Los
Angeles, and a stepson., H. O. Chumbley, National City, Calif.
The body lay in state the church from 12:30 until the funeral hour. Burial
is in the City cemetery under direction of the Wessell Funeral home.
