Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Has anyone else had problems accessing Ancestry.com for the free period until
July 31? Some days I can access paid information and other days I can't get
in. I assume there must be a limit as to how much can be accessed at one
time. Does anyone else run into this problem? I had intended to subscribe but
if this is a normal access problem I won't bother.
Barbara
Dear Larry,
Thanks for your note. Best wishes in your search.

Dear Larry,
You might wish to contact Grace Becker, who knows a great deal about the
English side of the Chumbleys. I don't have her email address, but you might
be able to find her using Eddy Chumney's web site on the Chumbleys and
variations thereof. You should be able to find his site using rootsweb.

Hi Kenneth,
I was told that Grace Becker would be the person to contact and was hoping that
I could do so by posting my dilemma on the Chumbley list. I simply don't have
her email address. So far, no response, but it is still early in the search.
I wish I could be of some help to you with your John, but my Cholmley was not
the immigrant; my Cholmley connection comes via the Claytons of Yorkshire, and
it was a Clayton who made it to Isle of Wight Co. VA in the late 17th or early
18th Century.
All the rest of my info comes from Burkes Extinct Baronetcies and whatever I've
managed to glean from the IGI.
Will keep you in mind if I happen to come across a John Chumbley; I see a lot of
names in a week's time, so you never know!<g>

Not being able to consult the CP, here's my problem:
Burkes Extinct and Dormant Baronetcies, p. 113(under Cholmley of
Whitby), stipulates that Sir Richard Cholmley, Knt, of Roxby(b.c.
1513-15, my estimate, not Burkes), son of Sir Roger Cholmley by
Katherine Constable, married "Margaret, daughter of Lord Conyers," and
by her had: Francis, Roger, Richard, Margaret, Jane, and Elizabeth.
I have three questions about this:
1. To which Lord Conyers does this refer?
2. Regarding Roger Cholmley, son of Richard and Margaret....is he
identical with the Roger Cholmley who is shown in the IGI as b. 1548? I
ask this as this same Roger, b. 1548, also had a dau. named
Margaret(b.c. 1568), who apparently married a William Clayton of
Oakenshaw, Yorks. in 1596.
3. And IF Roger Cholmley b.c. 1548 is not the son of the Richard
Cholmley by Margaret, dau. of "Lord Conyers", then whose son was he?
There appears to be a plethora of Cholmleys all over Yorkshire, so the
process of sorting them out is difficult...particularly the reference to
the Conyers connection.. I suspect the CP has the answer.
Any Cholmley experts(esp. in the E. Riding)out there???
Regards to all,

Donna,
Always on the outlook for my elusive Chumley's, I checked out "The Gene
Pool". To my amazement, on the third page of names, I discovered that MY
DAUGHTER Farrah is listed as the spouse of Emma Whitaker, who was born in
1897!! My Farrah is only 23 years old!! There is no mistaking it, as
Farrah's middle name is identical. Once you get to studying these pages,
you will see several mistakes.
So much for 'elusive' Chumley's!!

I found an interesting site while surfing around at Ancestry.com. It
will be free until July 10th. It is called "The Gene Pool".
According to Ancestry.com, "The Gene Pool was created while gathering
genealogical data for use in the study of human genetics and disease."
I found Chumley's listed on this particular database. I'm sure some
of you will find it useful.
Here is the site:

Thank You VERY much! There are quite a few
Chumbley/Chumley/Chumbly/Chumly listings. There is even one for someone
born in the 1700s!! There were some I recognized from people on the
list!
Thank You!
