I know the she was born 3-15-1863 and she married ANDREW JACKSON JENNINGS

Also her parents names were DANIEL CHUMBLEY and ELIZABETH SADDLER.These 2
married before 1849.
DANIEL'S father was RICHARD CHUMBLEY and his father was B.C. CHUMBLEY.
I have no dates or spouses for these and would like to continue this line

Debra,
Forgive the delay in reply, but I hadn't had time to check back through my
database. While Daniel, Richard and the Saddler surname appear, I don't have
any in your combination or in the time period. Where were these people
located? I also have a large Jennings line in southwest Virginia, but didn't
find your Andrew among mine.

Subject: Chumley/Mays connections
Hi Cyndi,
Enjoyed your e-mail, and thanks for getting back to me, particularly with such interesting material. That is fascinating, about the original surname having been "Chomondeley". Please feel free to forward this &/or my earlier message to the 'Chumbley' list. Perhaps, a bit of elaboration about the 'Mays' end of the captioned interrelationship would be in order, as follows.
A 'key' reference, in the marriage of John Chumley to Elizabeth Mays, is that to "Beverly Mase", who served as Witness to the event. Beverly MAYS was Elizabeth's BROTHER. Both were children of William Mays of Halifax County. Beverly was definitely a son by William's second wife Sarah, and I THINK that so ALSO was Elizabeth. Beverly, himself, was married (1789 Halifax), not that long before Elizabeth & John.
Although I also found interesting Eddie Chumney's reference to 'David Chumley having married Mary Mayes on August 23, 1790 in Halifax County, VA', must admit that I an UNcertain just who that this "Mary" might have been. Beverly & Elizabeth had a sister, Rhoda (maybe, she went by two names?), who is sometimes referred in the record to having married David Chumley. Another 'Mays' sibling David had a daughter Polly (Mary?), but she would not have been old enough to marry in 1790.
I DO, however, have some input, regarding Eddie's reference to the August 10, 1798 marriage of Susannah Chumley to Thomas Morning in Halifax County. A 'key' in the latter regard is the Surety having been "Drury Mays". Drury was the younger brother of Beverly Mays. Not long ago, was fortunate to 'find' a reference to Drury's gravestone, and it references his birth to have been in 1771 Halifax.
About the groom, Thomas "Morning", that Eddie references, THINK that the alternative spelling MAY have been '"MoUrning', which is employed in at least ONE 'Mays' given name of this general era.
Don't know anything about Drury having moved to San Augustine, TX with John Chumley, and it MAY have been that only Obadiah Hendrick moved on to TX. Drury actually died in what was then Harlan (now Bell) County, KY on 6 September 1827. Drury had a son, Drury D., who relocated with the family, following Drury's death to Audrain County, MO. >From there in 1862, a correspondent advises that Drury D. started West on the Oregon Trail, and died enroute. {For the record, there is ONE other 'Drury' in this line, that MIGHT (probably not) factor into the scene. He was a son of the elder Drury's brother, David Mays. "Drury S. Mays" (sometimes alternatively spelled MAZE) was born about 1804 (obviously one of David's latter children), and married in 1830 Pittsylvania. At some point thereafter, Drury S. relocated to Patrick County, VA, where he is evident in 1860 & '70.
As said, all of THESE particular Mayses were children of William Mays of Halifax County, who had TWO wives . . . Annah & Sarah. William's parents were William & Elizabeth Gardiner>Mays of Amelia County. William of Amelia's parents were William & Mary Mattox>Mays of Lunenburg County. Other students of the line surmise that this 'Mays' line leads from here backward via John Maies, William Mease, to Reverend William Mease, who arrived in Jamestown, VA in June, 1611.
In case anyone has input regarding the captioned 'Chumley/Mays connections' , please e-mail me at <ihr(a)fbg.net>.
Cordially,
Bob Mayse
Hi, All! Here is a message I thought you all might read with interest! I will be forwarding his next message also. It has more information!

Subject: the CHUMLEY line of early southern VA
Hi Cyndi,
Am interested in communicating with students of the captioned line, and happened to notice the ChumBley Family Discussion List, that you referenced on GenForum. Don't know if you might be able to help me in this regard, but thought that I would ask if you had any ideas.
My interest is in a couple or so of marriages of 'Mays' ladies into the 'Chumley' line. Facts are perhaps expectedly fragmented, but the following is what I understand.
Among Halifax County, VA marriages, Elizabeth Mays married John Chumley on 2/11/1793, and Mary Mays married David Chumley on 8/23/1790. Have ALSO noted a Rhoda Mays having married a David Chumley, and it MAY be that Mary & Rhoda are one & the same individual.
Don't know if your own Chumbley expertise carries over to 'Chumley', but in case it does & you have direction for me, I would surely appreciate it.
I 'found' a couple of 'Chumley' students, posting on GenForum, who seem to possess knowledge of my scope of interest, and last night e-mailed them, but have as yet heard nothing back.
Thanks for your help,
Bob Mayse
On February 1, 2000, the GLO has announced that it will add the Western
States
to it's web site. See: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/news.htm
Searching for Chumley's in IL, these are the names listed for purchases
of land in that state:

Hope this helps someone.

Would like to find info on the family line of VIRGINIA BELL CHUMBLEY.
I know the she was born 3-15-1863 and she married ANDREW JACKSON JENNINGS
12-25-1884 and that Virginia died 3-24-1939.
Also her parents names were DANIEL CHUMBLEY and ELIZABETH SADDLER.These 2
married before 1849.
DANIEL'S father was RICHARD CHUMBLEY and his father was B.C. CHUMBLEY.
I have no dates or spouses for these and would like to continue this line
futher back.
