Hi Bev
I wouldn't think that the names would be interchangeable but looking at
those 2 names I would suggest that you look at the orginal records. Perhaps
it is the handwriting that has been mistranscribed in one of those entries.

Hi Archie
A post about Chubbs from Evershot always interests me as that is where my
Chubbs were from. I have done alot of research on the Everhot Chubbs and
have had the good fortune to correspond with someone in England who was able
to help me with these families. I was able to go to Evershot in 2006. It is
a very picturesque village and we had the good luck of the churchwarden
letting us use her copy of a book recording the MIs in the cemetary as we
searched the actual gravestones. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Archie, I've got more time today, and will try to be of some help. I've only got my line of Chubbs back to 1770, in Dorset. I have not paid attention to what the brothers, ect. in the family were up to. I need to send you some things, and to do that efficiently, please send me your email address. Mine is willbacon(a)charter.net

Sorry, I don't have any information on Chubbs in my line that head for Newfoudland. You'll find the Dorset, Chubb line hard to deal with. There are a lot of them and they love to use the same limited number of names over and over again. The good news is that Dorset has parish clerks to help with your geneology in each village. Go to GENUK, then Dorset, then find your village and ask the parish clerk for help. Will

Chubb is our family name. We believe we originate from Dorcet. Our branch left England for Newfoudland, perhaps as early as the late 1700's early 1800's. We too are looking for information.
