We are looking for the parents of Joel Chubb and where they were from. Can you shed any light on this?
I have Joel born in Oswego county, NY 1 Aug 1808
Married Sarah Dyer in Geauga, Ohio in 1832
Also have a newspaper article (Lorain Republican) where Joel was injured during a town celebration in 1844 in Elyria, Ohio where he crushed his hand when a cannon misfired.
Sarah and He had eight children Claret Ann, Philena Jane, James Harvey, Horace Wheeler, Joseph Watson, Rolla Alonza, Darius Sylvester, and Prosser Joel.
He Lived in Illinois in 1850 died in Illinois n 1860
My husband is a decsendant from Joel to James Harvey to Alva to James Stoskopf to Robert Chubb (his father). I am looking and trying to find the parents of Joel with some difficulty. Some have told me that Joel's father was Harvey and his grandfather was Alexander. Can anyone help?
We live near Baxter Springs, Cherokee County, Kansas where part of the famly had moved and started family farms.

It's been quite a while since I've done anything with my Chubbs. My direct line in 1851 is Ann Chubb, widow of Henry Chubb living in Beaminster, Dorset. With her are William, Joseph, my great grandfather, Walter, Harriet, and John. I would appreciate a copy of the census data sheet you have, and I will provide mine if it is of interest. willbacon(a)charter.net

Found your note ref 'Chubbs od Dorset' on the Rootsweb page.
The faint link is that Elizabeth Drake ( b. 1833) was living with them as a 'niece', with Sarah A. Drake ( b, 1831) as their 'adopted child'. Plus also John Drake ( b. 1834) ( Carpenter). What they were all doing living with the Chubbs, and why the eldest should have been an 'adopted child' I can't explain!
all this from the 1851 Census.
Regards................Mike Dixon
