I am searching for the family of William Chubbb b 9/29/1831 d 7/29/1904. Md Elizabeth Knouse.
I believe he ties to the Tschopp/Chupp/Chubb family of Juniata/Northumberland/Perry/Dauphin Counties. The family seems to be located in the area where these counties touch boundaries.
William Chubb lives in Susquehanna Twp, Juniata County 1860 -1900 census records.
William and Elizabeth are buried in Barner's cemetery located in norhtern Perry Co. This is near their home in Juniata Co. The cemetery records seem to tie the family name to Tschopp as well as give a clue that that William may tie to the family of Christian Chubb 1803-1869 and wife Sovine (1805-1870)

I have been unable to find Wm Chubb on any 1850 census. He is 19 and not yet married and I was hoping to link him to his family but that has been unscuccessful.
The only chubb/Chupp/Tschopp in Juniata Co in 1850 is the family of Philip Chup (b1810)/ and wife Susan( b 1812) and they live near the Knouse family. Philip is of a correct age to possibly be the father of William. (This doesn't quite fit with Philip son of Frederick Tschopp since that Philip others have listed as being born 1822 and md Susanna Heckert b 1828)
There is some "possibility" that Wm Chubb line may look like the following:
Wm Chubb (1831-1904) md Elizabeth Knouse
Christian Tschopp md Sovine
John Tschopp md Barbara Werner
Johannes Tschopp and Magdalena Stohler
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I already knew all these details from the marriage certificate of George Chubb and Charlotte Maria Park and of Charlotte Louisa Parks's death.
Jane Chubb (George's sister) married Robert Beacher Larkham, a farmer, on the same day. A happy day in Teffont Magna.
I have sent you all sorts of further information to your email address quoted on Rootsweb and hope this has arrived.

It certainly is fascinating! Gabriel William Park is given as being a captain of a vessel - unfortunately no name is given. His widow was Charlotte Louisa Park who died on 11 Jan 1864 at Blue Boar Row. On Charlotte Maria Park's marriage cert, he is named as being a Captain in Navy! Witnesses to the marriage were William Chubb and Ann Chubb, this took place on 4th Feb 1852 in the Chapel of Teffont Magna

This is fascinating. I did not know about the chancery case but have been trying to prove the family story of a link to Mungo Park. I am descended from George Chubb and Charlotte Maria Park' s son Harry Hayter Chubb also born in Blue Boar Row, Salisbury. Gabriel Park is elusive. See the Park Rootsweb boards - search for Gabriel Park. I think he may be a son of one of Mungo's brothers - James or John?

Ooops, sorry wrong information being given by me - senior moment.
George Chubb was married to Charlotte Maria Park and that's the connection with Mungo Park. Her father was Gabrielle Park, but I haven't been able to track him down, as she was supposed to have been born in America, but I can't find anything on this, so far.
Sorry about that mistake.

The Park name was kept in the family and they tried very hard in the 1930's to prove relationship with Mungo Park as there was a large property going to chancery and they were battling to prove a relationship. The conclusion was that the family was descended from one of Mungo Park's brothers (it was a large family), but of course without the aid of modern technology, they had great difficulty in trying to prove this. My husband's grandmother was married to Alfred Chubb and her mother was a Dowdeswell who, so say, was a descendant of the Park family!
I have a tin full of cuttings and old letters which were written at that time.

I also have the Chubb family in my husband's tree. His grandfather was Alfred, born in Blue Boar Row, Salisbury. He was married at Teffont Magna. So far I haven't tackled much of this line, but hope to do so shortly.
I have much information on this line in Evershot. We hadn't figured out
where they had come from.
It would be great to exchange information. Please contact me.
