My Chubb family is from Michigan. The names you mentioned.... Orville P
Chubb, Arba Chubb, wife Sarah and son Elbert, Glode Dugar Chubb (My
g-g-grandfather), his father Samuel Chubb and his wife Relief ... these are
all my family. I can help anyone who is interested in this line.
I have that John Fay Chubb is the son of Johnathan Frisbie Chubb and Fanny
Lamont. John Fay was born May 27, 1828 Nankin, Wayne Co, MI. I have more
info on his parents. His mother died in 1837 and Johnathan remarried 2 more
times and had children with his 2nd wife also. Source for my info is
"Edward Frisbie and his Descendants" Vol 2 by Nora Frisbie. Johnathan
Frisbie Chubb is the son of the above Samuel Chubb and Relief Frisbie, and
brother to my Glode Dugar Chubb.

There seem to be quit a few Chubbs in Michigan. I found a site on the web that shows the number of some surnames in different states. (Sorry, I don't have it bookmarked and will take a little research to find the site again. I will post it when I find it.) In the 1880s, the greatest number of Chubbs could be found in Michigan.
Of hand, I can't find a John Fay Chubb in Michigan, but I will look through my pile of Chubb information again.
The following are some Michigan Chubbs:
Arba CHUBB who married Sarah. (They had a son Elbert was died 25 June 1876 age 27 yrs, 10 ms, 29 days)(Arba is found in the 1820 US census in Gain, New York as is a Glode CHUBB)
I have a Jonathan, who may be the one you mentioned, b. 1802 d. 1864, son of Samuel CHUBB and his wife Relief FRISBEE. He was a brother to Arba (above)
In a book regarding men from Michigan who fought in the civil war the following are listed:
Miles CHUBB
Edwin C. Chubb
Orville P. Chubb
The Bureau of Land Management:
http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/
lists many CHUBBs in Michigan, including John F. Chubb, MI, 01/10/1867, doc #19001
Jonathan F. Chubb is also listed. You might want to check out this site. It will at least give you a location for the 1860s. Jonathan's records are for the 1830s.

Surname: Fahnestock, Chubb
-------------------------
I am looking for info on Mary Chubb (b. approx. 1830s in PA) that married
William Fahnestock. Their kids were Emanuel b. approx. 1854 in PA, Elizabeth
and Peter. They were listed in the 1860 census of Susquehanna, Juniata
County, PA. Any help would be great!

Hi
Is anyone researching Canadian CHUBBs?
I have a photo of the Ben Chubb family from my grandmother but have no idea
how they fit into our
family tree. It was taken in Winnipeg, Manitoba and is printed on one of
those heavy postcards -
it must be well over 100 years old. I found Benjamin Chubb on the Ontario
1871Census in Oshawa.
He was 23 years old, single and living with Ann Chubb, age 65, widow.
The same census shows Robert Chubb (from England) and wife Jane, both age
26, and their three
children, Jane, William and Ellen. Robert and Benjamin are no doubt
brothers.
Another CHUBB reference I have come across is to Mrs. John Chubb, who
attended the funeral
of William CRUSE c. 1902 in Owen Sound. The obituary says she is from
Rollin, Manitoba, and
his only sister. My gg grandfather was Richard Cruse and William may be
his brother.
Does anyone recognize these names?
Sincerely,
Stephanie
