I am looking for as much information on Henry J Chronister born in Feb. 1844. I know his father was David Chronister 1814/1816 and his mother was Margaret Yohe 1819. But I can't seem to find David Chronister anywhere. If you have any information please e-mail me at trott.michelle(a)yahoo.com
Thank You!
Michelle

John B.E. Glenn's parents were Johnathan Glenn and Hannah Sabre (Sparks).
Johnathan's parents were Abigail (Rogers) and John Glenn.
John and Abigail had several other children, one of them being Elizabeth who married to a Tucker but he died and then she married his brother, Robert Tucker. Robert and Elizabeth had a daughter, Amanda, who married Sebe Coker. Their son, John B.E. Glenn, is the one who married Nancy Coker (above). So John B.E. and Nancy were 2nd cousins.
Most of Abigail's and John's children married Tucker siblings.
I hope this isn't too confusing.
There is a book, Glenn-Tucker vs Choctaw and Chickasaw Nations, that has within its covers the court proceedings and depositions of the Glenns and Tuckers trying to get their Indian rights. They were denied.
There is another book, Descendants of John Glenn and Abigail Rogers. It has all the census on the Glenn families, plus their lineages and other family info through 1920. It doesn't include Red's siblings families because I didn't want to give out anyone else's private information.
I hope this has helped.

As for the Indian rolls, are you on them? Red said he was just a young boy ... 10 or 11 ... when his mother took them to McAlester where she signed them up on the rolls. That would have been about 1905-06. Her relatives said she had a roll number written on the flap of her purse, but I can't find a record of it anywhere.
When George was killed it is said that he always carried his important papers in his pocket. He didn't trust them to be anywhere. When he was killed all of his papers were supposedly missing from his body.
I'd still like to hear the story about the coin. :)
Lilly was of a religion that some people don't care for. I can't remember if it was Jehovah Witness or what, or that is what I heard. I also heard that she wouldn't let their father see them much. I don't know if that is true or not.
I saw Willene several times. She was a beautiful woman and yes, she lived in Ft. Smith. I think she had 2 sons. I met one of them when her mother died. In fact, I was mowing and caring for the burial plots when I met him at Wister Cemetery. I'm thinking his name was David ???
Where do you live? I just moved back to Wister from Texas. My email address for a short few months will is bkglenn at verson dot net
Red has a daughter still living at Poteau. I know you would probably love talking with her. She's at the nursing home and still alert about the family members she knew/knows.
Write me ... I'd love to see the pictures.

Okay, I don't have all of my genealogy with me. I've moved to TX and it is all still in TX, but let's see if I can reply to this with at least a little knowledge.
Red Glenn had siblings but I can't remember all their names. He was the oldest. There was Albert, Albert, Sis, Doll. Red, my grandfather, was born October 10, 1895 Choctaw Nation (Oklahoma). Their father was George Glenn who died in 1923 because he was crossing a railroad track in Wister and a train hit his wagon and killed him. He was married to Lena Chronister who had sisters Minta and ?. Minta married Philmon Ray. Their son was also named Philmon.
Lena married second to Ben Powers.
Lena and George are buried in the Wister Cemetery. I heard they raised some of their grandchildren. I was thinking it was Sonny and Patsy.
George had a brother, John Glenn, and sisters Ollie and Mollie. Ollie married an Inman. I can't remember who Ollie married.
George's parents were Nancy (Coker) and John B.E. Glenn. John B.E. was born in MO, as was George. Nancy was his second wife and she produced for him besides these 4 children 5 children by two other husbands. Nancy is buried in Allen Oklahoma. John was married before Nancy but his wife died and that's when he married Nancy.
It gets complicated after that. :D :D :D
To be continued. :D

Hi Mandy,
Your grandmother, Dollie, was my mother's (Thelma Mae Glenn-Oscar's first daughter) aunt. We used to go visit in Arkoma, her sister, Lena aka Aunt Sis, quite often. Aunt Sis would tell us the story about the ""double-headed nickle""that kept Dollie and her children fed during the depression days.
Are you familiar with that story?

No I haven't heard that story.
It's very nice to meet you.
I'm confused. Dolly wasn't my grandmother. Oscar was my grandfather's sister if I'm thinking of the correct Dolly. My grandfather was Wilburn P. (""Wib"" or ""Red"") Glenn. Red's mother was Lena (Chronister) Glenn.

I certainly mixed up posts there. It was a jmiller that is Dollie's descendent and he wrote to you. So I'll try to post him and tell him the story.
Oscar Glenn, my grandfather, would be Red's brother. Younger? Older? I don't remember without looking. I've certainly heard the name Uncle Red Glenn from my mother. Though she only kept up with Aunt Sis,Red and Oscar's sister, until she died sometime around the mid 70's. Aunt Sis had a daughter named Willene that married a Sharp, in Ft. Smith. I don't know if she had any boys.
As far as I remember,my mother says that Lena Chronister Glenn missed the deadline to be included on the Choctaw Indian roles. It was something she cried about until she died.
Oscar was about 20 years older then my grandmother, Olive Redfern. So I'm rather young (50ish) to have a grandfather born that long ago. Olive was his second wife,(Lilly was his first) and Olive was the one that bore his four children. George Olen Glenn was the firstborn son. He died near the age of two. When I asked my grandmother why he died...she said something about choking on cornbread. Somehow I think there is more to the story. My mother came next. Then Nolen aka Sonny, then Patricia aka Patty.
Nolen died in 2002 in Ft. Smith, AR Patty is still alive in MO and so is my mother.
I think she has photos of the Glenns. I'll ask her for them next time I see her.
Cheryl
