As I mentioned before, The Pope County Library is a great place for Arkansas River Valley historical and genealogical research. Their website address is: http://www.popelibrary.org/index.php/genealogy/
E-Mail requests to: information(a)popelibrary.org
Be specific, give the source and page number of the record for which you need a copy. There will be a minimal charge. They do not do indepth research projects.

Thank you both Debra and Peggy for great insightfull information. My father was also born in the same area. I will write and obtain several records at the same time. This is the best help I could have asked for.
Sharon

Peggy, et al.
The information I posted is not a volume of transcripted marriage records it is instead, ABSTRACTED as I noted. I also gave the source for obtaining a copy of the actual record.
There is a big difference in transcription and abstraction. In a transcription everything in the record is copied exactly as found; in an abstraction only the information judged important by the abstractor is pulled out of the original. Sometimes there is additional information that can serve as a clue in the actual record.
It is very possible that the numeral 7 was misread for a 2, which is the reason it is essential for every researcher to follow through and get a copy of the actual marriage record. I agree; No one should take information from anyone without checking it against the original.
>>According to the published abstracts of Pope Co., AR Marriages by McLane and Glazner, 1967:
Nickel, William, 21, to Paredine Chronister, 20, 1 Jan 1852, by John M. Bewley, MG, Book C:73.<<

Debra,
The date of that marriage in your book (which is a transcription of records) conflicts with the date that is on ancestry.com (which is also a transcription of records). Ancestry.com gives a date of 1 January 1857. Which one is right? No way to know if either of them are correct without ordering a copy of the original record, as you suggested.
This highlights the problem with putting this kind of information online--and the reason why I don't do it any more. People are too willing to copy everything they see into their databases, not ever questioning the accuracy of what they find.
Peggy Reeves

There is a great deal of information available to you on the Chronister Message Boards at Rootsweb/Ancestry and in the archives of the Chronister Mail List at Rootsweb.
According to the published abstracts of Pope Co., AR Marriages by McLane and Glazner, 1967:
Nickel, William, 21, to Paredine Chronister, 20, 1 Jan 1852, by John M. Bewley, MG, Book C:73.
These records are available on microfilm from the Pope Co., AR Library for a small copying and postage fee. The genealogical collection in Pope Co. is quite good and the staff is very helpful.

Thank you! My Grandmother was also Perdine AnnieMae Daily from Pope County, AR. Do you have any info on the Chronister line. Or who she married Nichols. I have really hit a dead end on my father's mother's side.
