Gary,
I haven't been able to find it even though my grandfather told me his mom
was almost full blood Indian. She was Lena Chronister who lived in Wister
OK and married George Glenn. My thinking is that it was probably on her
mother's side, Susan Scott, who married Adam Chronister. She lived in the
Chronister household as a teen as a servant in Arkansas.
If anyone ever runs into this Scott family I sure would be interested in
hearing about it!!

my work situation. I do have a general question, if anyone has the time
and inclination to respond. Has anyone traced our line (specifically the
line that moved to arkansas) back to any Indian roots? My father, who is 90
now, has always said we have some Cherokee blood but we have never been able
to trace it.

The Chronister family were German-speaking immigrants who came from either Germany or one of the surrounding German-speaking countries. Their origins in Europe have not been proven, despite many guesses and empty claims to the contrary. We can prove that they arrived in Philadelphia in 1738 from the Palatinate portion of Germany, and were not Native Americans.
There were several Chronisters who married Native Americans in the late 1800s. If you have Native American blood, it would be through some name other than Chronister. There are several Guion Miller applications for Chronisters who claimed to be Native American through their Chronister line, but their claims were denied by the government for obvious reasons (Cherokees don't come from Germany).
Arthur Chronister married a Native American woman, and his claim was approved for his children, who were half Native-American through his wife's line, not through his own.
NARA has an index to the Guion Miller claims at their website at www.nara.gov, and copies of the applications themselves can be ordered from NARA.
