Bob,
William M. Chronister is, indeed, buried at the Hudson cemetery with the dates that you have given, however, he is not the son of Azariah. Estate records, tax records, and land records of Azariah at the courthouse in Pope County prove this conclusion. There are also land records at the National Archives in D.C. that prove this same conclusion: Azariah's son is William Jackson Chronister. William M. and William J. were born around the same time, hence the confusion. They are not the same man. If you have found other original documents for any of these people, we would be interested in knowing about it. The bottom line is that people can choose to either look at the documentation, or to ignore it.
Gary Chronister's book is notorious for confusing lines and inventing or tweaking dates which conveniently cover less desirable details about the families. That is what happened on my line. He apparently talked to a family member who told the family story the way they wanted to tell it, and it was printed without documentation of the facts. If you have seen his book, you will notice that throughout all of the Chronister generations there are no criminals, no divorces, and no illegitimate children.
There is a criminal case in Pope County for J. Oliver Chronister, who was charged with the murder of R. L. Johnson on 15 August 1904. You won't find that story in any of the glowing accounts in the history books. Nevertheless, there it is. Whose son is he?

My name is Patrick Jackson. I am searching for information on Rachel Allen. My GGrandparents were Thomas and Rachael (Chandler) Allen. They moved from Indiana to Sherman, Grayson County, Texas sometime between 1847 and 1850. I have come across a record of a Thomas Allen having died in Cook County, Texas in about 1852. The executor is stated in the probate records as having been a John Chronister. I then found a record of a marriage between John Chronister and Rachel Allen in 1856, in Cooke County, Texas. I have also found both families in Sherman, Grayson County, Texas in the 1850 Census. Thomas and Rachael, who is listed as RR Allen. have four children. Their first daughter is listed only as RA Allen. I have also seen the listing for John Chronister (father) and John Chronister (son). Do you have any further information on the marriage of John and Rachel (Allen) Chronister? Do you by chance, in the probate records, have any information of interest on Rachel Allen's family? !
Thank You.
