HA! That's a good one. I shouldn't do this so late at night.
Of course I meant Heinrich b. 1744 d. 1818

There are many unanswered questions about Heinrich Chronister, Sr, b. 1844 d. 1818. Some of the estate papers are with Heinrich's will on microfilm at the Adams County courthouse, but there is a lot that's missing.
Heinrich was a man of some wealth. In his will, written just two months before his death, he names his youngest son, William, as one of the executors along with William Patterson. The estate was fought over in court for about 30 years. Many of the children died before ever seeing any inheritance (including my David), and their administrators and assignees took over the fight. I have found mention of many court cases involving the players in the dispute suing each other. I am wondering if anyone has ever looked at any of these cases to find the details. Here is a short list that I have gathered (keep in mind there is more than one "Henry", more than one "John", more than one "William", so these may not all be the "right" ones involved in the Heinrich estate settlement):
1. Henry Chronister, dec'd, admr, vs. Levi Miller & John Bender 156/356
2. Henry Chronister adm, vs. adm Casper Chronister & others 143/504 Nov 1845
3. Mary Chronister & others vs. Henry Chronister (lunatic) 144/300 Jan 1848
4. Susanna Chronister, Jane A. & others vs. Thos Warren, Robt Smith, John Woffard, & others 7 Aug 1859 155/516
5. From the "Republican Compiler" Gettysburg newspaper dated 13 Jan 1845, is listed the following: "Trial List": "Rebecca Chronister, Peter Chronister, & others vs. Christian Bushey & William Bushey". Note: These two Busheys were administrators for the William Chronister (who was married to Rebecca) who died in March of 1826, not William the son of Heinrich Sr).
6. Also from the Republican Compiler on the same day, under "Trial List": "Henry Chronister vs. John Chronister & George Chronister".
If anyone has seen any of these cases and can help, I would appreciate it. My objectives are:
1. To gather more definitive evidence on the two William Chronisters in early Adams County, one who is the son of Heinrich, and one who is not. I cannot yet identify the parents of the other one.
2. I would like to find the rest of the probate papers, including the estate inventory, for Heinrich Chronister Sr. It is possible that they are filed with one of these court cases. It could have eventually gone to a higher court to be settled.
3. I would like to find the court case where the final distribution of the considerable assets of Heinrich was decided. Heinrich's will stated that any heir who objects to what they get or tries to "up the amount" will receive nothing, and that one's share would then be evenly divided among those who were satisfied. Based on these court cases and the few probate papers that were on microfilm, there were at least some who were not satisfied, and even objected to the accountant's disbursements at one point. I would like to get the whole story.
Thanks for any insight!
