Gary Chronister is in hiding, apparently, as he hasn't answered my own requests for a reply. I think he hides because his book was not researched through legitimate sources. My own research shows that there is a lot of fiction in that book. Contact me privately with details about your Jacob Chronister and I'll see what I have for you. My Chronisters are from Adams County, PA

I have seen many references to Gary Chronister and his book about the Chronisters. Does anyone know how to get in touch with him? Does anyone know how to get a copy of the book? Does anyone know what collections might have a copy of the book?
Thanks.

Seeking information on a George Chronister who was living in Latimore Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania in 1850. His age is given as 48. Wife is Catharina, age 48. Was her maiden name SPAHR? Children listed are Jesse, 18; George, 16; Daniel, 14; Sarah; 12. Also in the household are Sarah Spahr, age 75, who I believe in Catharina's mother and my gggg grandmother, and Lydia Spahr, age 35, who I believe is Catharina's sister.
Hoping someone can help me on this one.

Anyone have any information on the CHRONISTERS/CRONISTERS in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania?
I believe my great-great-grandfather is Jacob Chronister, d. 1896, age 43, who was buried at the Hoover farm graveyard in Hopewell, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. (I believe he was married to my great-great-grandmother, Elizabeth Chronister (nee Hoover).
I would like any information anyone might have on this family. I have dug up some census data (but not much else) and would certainly share.
Was told they were "Plain People" by my grandmother.
Any information at all would be appreciated! Thanks so much!

Yes that is my line. William's wife Sarah, her parents were Charles Ford and Iphey Gizzle. I have that line to 1733.
However, William John and Sarah's son John William, his wife Mary Elizabeth Rodebush all I have on her is her father George Washington Rodebush. Thanks again.

And I also have nothing on John Williams wife, Elizabeth Rodebush except her father was George Washington Rodebush.

Please excuse my premature posting on your William Chronister. When I checked my notes instead of relying on my faulty memory, I find that I have both "J" and "D" for a middle initial for William Chronister. I have no given name for the "J" but my source for that information is J. William Martin of Rolla, MO. My source for the "D" is well-known for its inaccuracy.
Mr. Martin gave the names of Charles Ford and Iphey Grizzard for Sarah Ford's parents. Does this track with what you have?

Thank you for giving me your information. I'm still not sure if that is the correct William Chronister. I know for a fact that my great grandfather was John William Chronister married to Mary Elizabeth Rodebush. I have been to their grave and also my father at 82 years is still living. I pretty sure John Williams father was William John Chronister married to Sarah Angeline Ford. She was born around 1838 in Jackson County Alabama. I have information on Sarah but nothing on William John. I think they settled around the Alton, Mo area. If you have anything please send. Thank you

Becky, according to the information I have, William's middle name was Duncan. The following information was obtained from census reports, marriage records, land records and a Bible record in the Reynolds Co., MO library. I believe that Willliam is the only one of John and Elizabeth's children to have stayed in SE MO, but that is speculation only. John and family moved to Newton Co., MO by 1840. I think your William was duplicated in the 1840 census. A male the right age is shown in John's household and also in his grandfather, Daniel's household in Ripley Co., MO. In 1850, William is enumerated with the James A. Chronister family in Reynolds Co., MO.

William and John were very common Chronister first names. Do you know where he lived? Even a state would be helpful.
