Dear Debra,
Good to hear from you again. Its been a couple of years I belive since we
corresponded.
I have not sent for the only primary source that I know of, the will of
Abraham Earhart which lists Susannah Chronister as his sister, as it is
printed in Lorena Eakers book.
I have been busy on the Earharts. I have been researching the Church of
the Brethren/Dunkerd church. Abraham was the last Dunkard preacher in the
Catawba area. In the late 1700's. about 1796, the Earhart families, moved
to Davidson Co Tenn with another of the Dunkard preachers. As you know a
group moved to Cape Girardeau Co in 1818.
Back in PA, Phillip Reinhard Earhart immigrated from Iggleheim Germany in
1722. He had 3 sons, David and Jonas Jacob whose families were well
documented, and Phillip b 1721 who I think was my ancestor. The father
Phillip Reinhard became a member of the Brethren Church as did the 3 boys.
The girls married into prominent Brehtren families. The 3 brothers moved
to York/ Adams County, not too far from the Chronisters. Phillip had land
in 1735-50 or so adjacent to his sister and her husband John Dierdorf.
David was on the list of members of the Conewego Brthren Church near
Hanover where his minister was a George Brown. In 1750 Phillip and a
Christopher Guice signed a Brethren document complaining about the
Moravians. By 1752, according to Brethren History, he, Christopher Guice
and George Brown were preaching in the Catawba area. He took up land there
at the time. About 1756 they seem to have left. One book said that it was
because of the Indian raids at that time. A Moravian Hist suggested that
many of the Brethren were also drovers along the Great Wagon Trail.
One history said that Phillip went to live in Maryland and I am trying to
track that down now. In about 1775 there was another Phillip, the brother
of Susanna, in NC. I think they were Phillip b 1721's children. The list
in Abraham's will of his brothers and sisters is almost identical to the
names of the children of David, who would have been their uncle, and also
very similiar to the names of the children of Phillip Reinhard the
immigrant. The earhart researchers I have been in contact with all seem to
think that it is probable that they are Phillip b 1721's children. Also
the younger Phillip fought in the Rev, and died in 1818, so it could not
have been the same person as one b in 1721.
Hope this isn't too confusing, but it does give you some idea of what I
have been finding out. If you want me to send you some of these histories
I will be happy to. You were very helpful to me before. I also have a
document on the family sent to me by a man from Fla which is a pedigree of
his line, David, back to Germany, and down a few generations. I have that
in my computer files and could send it easily.
Betty
By the way if you look at the descendants of James and Susanna you see
Abraham etc.
Hello, Betty, et al.
I have just begun work with the primary record sources trying to find
documentation that Susannah Earhart was the wife of James Chronister the
Rev. War soldier. I would appreciate any clues to help find the original
records that will substantiate that belief.
Debra Blackard
Hi,
This is the first thing I have seen on this list since I joined it some
time ago. Glad to see some things from other MO Chronisters. I am
descended from Anderson Chronister, son of Abraham, son of James the Rev.
War veteran. My great grandfather was Davis Chronister who moved to Butler
Co from Bollinger in the 1880s.
I would be interested in descendancies from James the veteran from both of
you. I have also researched the family back to Germany. Maybe we can
compare notes. I live in PA and have visited the Lower Bermudian Church in
Adams Co where the immigrant Is buried. I have pictures of the church and
the tombstone monument which the family living around there has put up.
Recently I have been research the family of Susanna Erhart/Earhart/Airhart,
the wife of James the veteran. I think I have them traced back to
Iggleheim Germany in the 1600s but there is one link that I have not been
able to document.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

I'm another MO Chronister descendant. My line in MO is James the Rev War
Veteran who came to Cape Girardeau Co in 1818 with his wife Susanna Earhart.
I am from his son Abraham, then Anderson, and his son Davis who was my
great grandfather. Davis moved to Butler Co and there are still some cousins
of mine there. Would love to compare notes with you.
