MASURY, OH - Bert E. Christy, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Hospice House in Poland, Ohio following a brief illness.
He was born in Sharon, Pa. on Nov. 18, 1926, a son of Bert H. and Grace (Stevenson) Christy.
Mr. Christy served as a Private in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was an expert with the M-1 Garand. For his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Ribbon.
Following his discharge, Bert would go on to operate as a self-employed truck driver for more than 40 years, before his retirement.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 55, American Legion Post No 299, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, the former Masury V.F.W. Post No. 8860, and also had enjoyed photography and model airplanes.
He leaves behind his brother, L. David Christy; two nieces, Cindy White and her husband, Rod and Tammy Schmidt and her husband, Rich, all of Hubbard, Ohio; and by his great-nephew and great-nieces Zachary, Nicole, Kalyn, and Abby.
Bert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruth Prowitt and Aurelia Bailey; and by a nephew, Bill Prowitt.
Funeral services be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Madasz Funeral Chapel, 6923 Warren-Sharon Road in Brookfield, OH.
Friends may call one hour prior to the start of the services at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Brookfield Township Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests contributions may be made to Hospice House, C/O Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.

Ha Cousin, I am William Albert Christy III, The son of your
grandma youngest brother. I have been working on the for a since October and have found some imformation. After his mother died, Dad had little use for older family menders due
