What we have resorted to was going in the "back door", any door we could find, to see if we would have any luck ...and now another tie in with the Niberts. Both from Germany. Niberts were in Mason Co., VA in 1820. The old Christy Bible only had something like this....Samuel left home at a very early age. (Marcia thinks she remembers 11 or 12.) So, many of their neighbors may have never known him.
Thanks for the info. Have you ever heard of an Area Cemetery. It is/was in Mason Co., but someone said mainly people from Cabell County were buried there as it was on/
just over the county line.

1854. "After my marriage I came home to my father's and the next undertaking for me was flat-boating. I made four trips from the Kanawha Salt Works to Cincinnati and to Aurora, twenty miles below. These were the pilots on the different trips: 1st Joseph Nibert; 2nd James Christy; 3rd McDaniel; 4th George Young. This was all the flat-boating I wanted in mine." ~5 June 1907 , Mason County, West Virginia, USA from "A Brief History of My Life" By Jesse Waugh. Story of Jesse & Permelia (Smith) Waugh

I have read everything I can find about Nibert that I "remember reading" as Neighbors. Couldn't find it at the Archives again. Started calling all the funeral homes in Mason Co.,VA/WV and Gallia Co.,OH. Then I came across material that the Niberts were neighbors of the Christy family and two of the older Niberts (died abt. 1850) were buried in an area that was hard to get access to as it was owned by a private family. This info was written by someone who was requesting information as to how access could be obtained . From the picture on the computer there appeared to be no markers. Flat stones ?? Marcia Christy Croye of AZ wrote to Judge Nibert , but no reply. I called two Nibert's listed in Mason Co and one replied but she got no help from other family members. reply. It's the only half way lead we have had, "The Nibert Burying Ground." Mason County and it is not listed in any of the cemetery books I have found.

Can you offer any clarification for the Neibert Burying Ground? Neibert names, property location, or history? My searches into the WV archives have provided little, and any new data could go a long way. Thanks, PAUL

I am researching Christy. Anything manuscript, family records, positively ID'd photos, or geographical feature that pertains to the Christys of Virginia/Ohio/WV (even 1750..1850) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paul

We may be searching for the same Christy family. Samuel b:abt 1819. Married Minerva Montgomery- He was steamboat Capt. and later lived Putnam Co., VA/WV. Searching for his parents said to be John and Catherine Christy. John and Catherine thought to be buried with the Neiberts in what was called the Neibert Burying Ground, Mason Co., WV and it is said to be located on private property
