John and Wilma Mooney were children of my grandfather, Louis David Foote's sister "Aunt Nan Foote Mooney. I barely remember John and Gertrude but loved your Aunt Wilma dearly.
I have most of the Foote and some of the Mooney family history and appreciate your contacting me. I have often wondered what happened to Dorothy and have not heard from her since Wilma passed away.
They are all buried at Cedar Creek Cemetery, Salem Church Cemetery, all in Hartselle, AL, and at Old Prospect cemetery in Jasper.
If you would like more info or a visit to Alabama, please let me know.
I have a picture (if I can find it) of Dorothy holding her baby son.
God bless,
Gloria "Jean:

Hello,
Dorothy Mooney Christy was my grandmother. She and my grandfather, Raymond Christy lived in Medford NJ. They started a lumber yard in the 1950's called Christy's Supplies. They lived in Medford until retiring then moved to Cape Coral, Florida. They returned to New Jersey in later years. Sadly, she passed away February 25, 2007.
Together they had 3 sons...Richard (my father), James, and another child Stanley who died at birth. They had good life together. We had a big party for their 50th Anniversary. Gran was always go, go, go while Pop prefered to stay home. They did buy a Winnebago and traveled, once going to Alaska. While in Florida Gran volunteered at Lee County General Hospital in the physical therapy department. She said she would have liked to become a doctor. She said whatever was on her mind, often with very little tact. She always drove a Cadillac, always over the speed limit. She was a disaster in the kitchen. A trait I inherited. She was supportive of her grandchildren, generous, and always a lot of fun. Not your typical grandmother - quite a progressive thinker which I suspect was sometimes just for affect. We loved her very much.
I know it's 10 years since your post, but I do so hope you receive this email. I'm trying to trace her family. We don't know her family's origin. We've heard Ireland and England, but would love to know for sure. I knew she said her family came from Alabama. Now I have a name - Jasper!
Amy Christy-Sweeney
